It depends on which airplanes you are talking about, but in the tight markets we’re talking about here, we see an inordinate amount of airplanes sitting on Controller that haven’t sold for some reason or in many cases are already sold. I’m not at all saying you “have to call Chip” and we only do a small number of models anyway, the point is in a market with low inventory when an airplane is on Controller and it isn’t sold, there’s probably a reason.

I’m also pointing out that in a tight market, if an airplane hits Controller that checks all of your boxes, you should grab it immediately before someone else does.

I think the confusion is that I’m talking about the airplanes we are looking for, especially airplanes like B200 King Airs or Mustangs, airplanes that have been very hard to find and someone reading this is thinking of the airplane they’re looking for, that may not represent a tight market.

I don’t know how to fix that, I can’t preface each response with what types of aircraft we are talking about and within that which markets are not tight at the moment. One example when this thread started the PC12NG market was very tight, today it’s pretty soft and there are several high pedigree airplanes on Controller.

Overall, inventory levels aren’t near as low as they were, but just saying X number of airplanes are on Controller, doesn’t tell the whole story.

Almost a year since the last comment here, and not much has changed.

The King Air B200 markets is still tough, I looked at two last week, so hopeful we can get them bought. We have a PC-12NG client and thought we were close on a really nice one, but the owner hasn’t accepted the drop in market values yet. As I mentioned a year ago, there were several on Controller, what followed was a considerable adjustment to sales prices.

It seems that some markets have softened, but many are still tight.

I don’t think we can say “Aircraft inventory levels are critically low” today as a blanket statement. It was true for just about every market when this thread was started. Today, we see the same thing in popular turbine models such as;

All 1990 and newer King Airs except 350
All Citation Mustangs, 525 (CJ-CJ4), Citation 560 (V-XLS+)
All Phenom 100’s and 300’s

The Phenom 300E market is crazy! New flip $14,750.00!

Phenom 300 is a great plane at the entry level for charter market and corporate fleets.
Cabin has it all over the comparable Citations.

Also, would guess that Embraer is a couple of years out on new deliveries, if the backlog is anything like Textrons in the small jet market.

In terms of Phenom 100s more of a supply issue than a demand issue.
Embraer only make 9 or 10 of them a year. Textron makes 30-35 M2s each year.

You are spot on!

About 1/3 of all 300E deliveries go to charter companies and Embraer is sold our for nearly 3 years!

And yes, the Phenom 100EV production is limited, most of our clients who hire us to buyer a later model Phenom 100 end up buying an M2.

I have a buddy who flies both a 250 King Air and a Phenom 100 for a local company. He says he'd take the King Air any day over the Phenom. He says the Phenom's range is abysmal. True? I don't have any personal experience - just sharing what I've heard.
They're waiting on delivery of a new CJ4 to replace the Phenom.

All depends on the mission, yes on any of the small jets, Mustang, SF50, Phenom 100 the range is an issue. BUT... it isn't that simple.

What is the mission?

4 pax and 750 miles? Take the jet!

4 pax and 1500 miles? Take the jet!

If you're mission is 6-8 people, it's the King Air. If you're going 800 - 1000 miles, take the King Air.

Phenom 100 has serious runway limitations when wet, hot, high, contaminated.
We looked at it very hard before going M2. Once things get wet, hot, contaminated… 5,000’ won’t work in many cases.

Phenom 300 much more capable.

Laughable that people don’t realize the Avanti has a better, quieter cabin, more range, better speed (than some) and a real lav…and they still buy a Citation pencil or a 900 nm range Phenom 100 or a noisier, slower and more fuel thirsty King Air.

On paper the Avanti is an absolute marvelous beast. I think it's biggest problem is people can't get past the way they look.

. The piaggio is regularly found in lists of the most beautiful airplanes in the world. Sorry but there is no comparison between it and the Citations and King Airs (opinions are relative I know). The Piaggio is pure organic beauty.

It's a very cool plane but in the eye of this beholder it's far from a looker.
I'd still own one if able though, like I said very cool plane.
