All I know about a cirrus is I put out a fire on a burning one.

I think they're trying to argue the most efficient and green way to get to the hangar that might have a 421 in it? :duck:

Okay, new contest on BT...who can most quickly move any thread into a "positives and negatives about a Cirrus" discussion....

Or, maybe "who can get both Cirrus and Duke into a thread the quickest"?

(I'm kidding, guys....)

Hey Tony.....your post is enough to justify running 2700 RPM all flight long :duck:

But there is a button on the intercom that does the same trick :peace:

I lik the 421, 414.....but I think the 340 is the go as an overall compromise. But heck I have an .....ohhh does not matter.....

Nothing to see here......

Personally I'm not going to mess with an electric car until it's running with John Galt's motor.

:-) I believe that John Galt stopped the motor of the world

I'd prefer if our current engines were made from Rearden steel

Electric cars are just a passing fad. They don't have the range and take forever to recharge. The car of the future is the one Toyota will be offering next year - 435mi range and recharge is 3 min

I like the idea of hydrogen, but you have to be able to produce it.

Holy cow.........Todd, that you, or your wife digging on that new Tesla styling. :D

Russ, I'm sorry to break it to you before Tim does but hydrogen technology doesn't even come close to the energy density of a lithium ion battery.

My Money is on Toyota - Key words: "REASONABLY PRICED AUTOMOBILE!" The Tesla is an overpriced toy. Toyota creates real technology that is available to the masses.

What we really need are more nuclear power plants to create the hydrogen.

The government will be taxing hydrogen since they will eventually claim that producing hydrogen causes climate change.

Todd, Russ,

A problems with most Hydrogen Fuel Cell cars. Note; I could have missed something, I have not looked at fuel cell technology since last summer.

-- Current fuel cell technology consumes the fuel cell over time. Most fuel cells today use incredibly rare materials. This means the price will be through the roof.
-- Infrastructure to roll out refueling stations. Making hydrogen at refueling stations generally will be energy intensive. Piping to deploy compressed hydrogen will require massive pipes, if you cool it, massive cooling. Neither solution cheap to build or maintain. Stripping Hydrogen from H2O2 and other techniques are still not very "industrial". Basically the transportation of Hydrogen is still largely in its infancy.
-- Fuel cells have a low energy density and rather bulky in comparison to LiPo batteries.
-- Explosive, most make LiPo and Gasoline seam mind in comparison.

Todd,

Toyota has a choice. Either get early adopters to pay a lot to cover R&D, ala the method chosen by Tesla, or eat the R&D and role it out in a commodity car. I tend to doubt they will do that, most likely roll it out in Lexus brand for a few years to milk early adopters before mass role out.

Produce the hydrogen on-site. Build nukes to power the plants. Clean energy for everyone and nothing for the government to tax.

If you are going to build Nuc plants to generate electricity then send electricity and water to a site to generate Hydrogen on site and then compress/liquify it, you have introduced a lot of complexity, cost and risk for minimal gain. We likely would be better off using Natural Gas powered cars, and Bio Fueled cars with a few Battery cars for local commuters.

Basically, very doubtful we have any single bullet which can practically replace gasoline. Instead, expect industry and individuals will switch to niche solutions for specific markets. e.g. Those in big cities will go electric, hybrid, small commuter (e.g. Elio), local trucks will switch to natural gas, long range trucks will supplement with biodiesel, all gasoline cars will deal with increases in ethanol....

Oh, by the way. All Nuc plants are subsidized by tax payers, and electricity has been taxed forever.
