The end result wasn't much different looking but it helped with the speed. I cannot see how there is no room to improve the drag and efficiency of a 60 year old airframe, even if you retain the same basic structure. The 60 year old airframe needs more than and aerodynamic cleanup for speed. It needs training link gear, cargo door, newly designed cockpit etc. My dream for the KA is much bigger than a little more speed.

I worked for a large public corporation. As I grew in responsibility and moved closer and closer to the C suite (quite literally in this case), i became increasingly exposed to prepping the President for the ALL IMPORTANT investors quarterly calls. Let me tell you, was that ever an education. Top line, bottom line, ROI, Capex key trigger words. As Director of Product Developemt it eventually became my job to babysit the large, institutional investors and banks at large trade shows here, and in Europe. We prepped more for those than for College finals or the IR written..... It is very difficult for public corporations to invest heavily in RD and long product development cycles. The Japanese do it well, but they are the exception. Out of the box innovation is more likely to come from privately held companies.

Jason, do you think they need a King Air bigger than a 350?

That's not the point of my question. You contend no changes need to be made to the KA line because "it looks good to you". Well how does the Piaggo Avanti "look" to you since it's also a twin turboprop?

I misread your quote on your dream for a new King Air. I agree. Also agree that there are a lot of things they could do to make it( or all of them) better. Look at what Socata has done with the TBM. 270 knots to 330. FADEC. Would guess there's are market for a modern King Air. There are a lot of them out there well worn. And your point about 2 engines is valid. Most passengers given a choice will take 2 engines over 1.

Textron has made zero effort to promote the idea in their marketing against SETPs. I don't think I've ever even seen them market against the SETP market. Now they're joining the SETP market.... ha

It would seem that they are lost in the clouds and have no clear direction. Took the worst from both companies and melded them into reaction or no action.

That’s what my grandad taught me young. He always said they will give you an unmbrella and take it off you on a rainy day. Didn’t make much sense when I was 20 years but I sure get it now. Andrew
