How do you get 2120 pounds useful in any Aerostar? Are the wings helium filled? Maybe that's why they need 4000+ ft of runway

How do you get 2120 pounds useful in any Aerostar? Are the wings helium filled? Maybe the gross weight option....up to 6850 lbs gross weight

You should see the 70’s interior Adam. It makes your Ranchero’s look like a Bentley! That is an outstanding car btw.
But it’s fun to fly the Aerostar. What a nice flying machine.

Nothing handles like an Aerostar. Ted Smith knew a thing or two!

I had a chance to fly a friend's 602P yesterday. It really struck me how well these airplanes fly. I've been out of my Aerostar for a few years now, and even thought I tell everyone who asks me about it, the memory was sharpened by having an hour of stick time in this fabulous machine. It just honestly goes where you want it to go and is so solid and stable on the controls. Handling characteristics that are easier to be demonstrated than they are to explain. My buddy riding with me hadn't ever been in an Aerostar (but flown everything else from 747's to Mooneys)... he was truly impressed.
I'm not selling the Cheyenne - it is such a great family traveller, but man do I miss the Aerostar. If you don't need the big turbine or the bills, boy it's just hard to beat the Aerostar.
Apologies for the irrelevant content-lacking post, just had to share the glow after my flight yesterday.

I am still a big fan of the Aerostar and that is why I made a few improvements to mine.

I’m in the same boat. I’m not selling the Mits...because it’s such a reliable and weather-capable business traveler. I miss the handling characteristics of the Aerostars I’ve owned and will probably eventually consider going back to one after I no longer need the plane to fly all the time on a schedule. No question the Mits is less precise and tactile in the way it handles, but the speed, reliability and passenger comfort would be hard to give up now that I’m used to it. 4-6 legs a week all year, all seasons here in the Mountain West for 4 years and still no mechanics visiting me for unscheduled maintenance. I just didn’t have that kind of reliability in the Aerostar (even though I loved the planes and still miss the way mine flew).
