Great video.

The brochure says they made aerodynamic refinements to increase TAS. I can’t find what they are though.

I wonder if they updated the lav?

Love the video.
I had the privilege of having BMW designworks design a motorhome for us when I lead product development at Fleetwood. What a neat experience. The guy leading that studio at the time now leads all of BMW design worldwide.

285KTAS to 290KTAS at FL220
5000hr TBO from 3500hr TBO
Increased range
Shorter takeoff over 50ft obstacle

You guys think Pilatus is being conservative? Is the XP making more power somewhere?

Mentions Wi-Fi in a couple places on their website. Does that mean Pilatus is now installing them or they already have?

All new PC12s have had WiFi from the factory. You still gotta pay for it though.

I think Pilatus could have done a lot more but I don’t blame them for not doing so. I want one.

Cant argue with that. What a beautiful plane in flight. And stop on a dime. etc etc. Love that new panel. Reminds me of a Falcon panel. Im just a twin screw type a guy.

The 5000 TBO is a pretty big deal, I wonder whether it’ll be applied to other PT6 applications. Anyone know if the HSI interval has moved up too (2500 hrs maybe)?

If only it’d fit in my hangar...

Looks like a nice upgrade. I assume the FADEC eliminates the rube goldberg FCU that has been part of a PT-6 since the 60's.

The biggest deal here is the 5000 TBO AND the elimination of the hot section entirely! Per the press release, the hot section is now "on condition". That's a game changer along with a 5,000 hour TBO.

Now, if only it had a G3000 :)

Pratt playing pre-emptive defense against the new GECatalyst engine.

Think about what the
5k TBO
No HSI*
On condition Hots*
and
290 kts,

does to further improve the already stellar DOCs of that airplane...

Maybe they are saving +300 kts changes as a hole card?

*I assume "no HSI" and "on condition hots" means the engine gets scoped regularly and thats how the decision to open her up is made?
Is any data collection used as part of the decision?
Historically, if nothing has materially changed, what is the likelihood of making it 5k without being opened up?
(Educate me, please)

Which proves that it was just simple greed and their complete monopoly in the market place that dictated that all along. Never had anything to do with safety whatsoever. I actually find it complete shameful and despicable. Hope GE wipes their asses with their engine.

Just saw this from PWC for their E-Series:
https://www.pwc.ca/en/products-and-serv ... gines/pt6e

Of note - "Engine data will be sent for trend monitoring and, if required, for
troubleshooting."

Digital autothrottle & auto-start sound cool, but I think the big difference with the EEC will be the extended maintenance intervals & on-condition items. Either way, awesome airplane.

Thanks, Nate.

I would guess, with all the PT6 historical data out there, there should be a strong opinion on how many will make it to 5k without issues...

JC wants one. And he fits the demographic.
Sounds to me like Pilatus read the market right!
And the have a few aces up their sleeves.

Nice link. It says the PT6A-67XP makes 10% more power at sealevel. Guess that's how it's climbing up faster and taking off shorter over 50ft.

So the question is, 10% more power at sealevel...does that really only equate 1.7% increase in max TAS (at FL220)? Or we going to see a larger increase of TAS at reduced power or at higher altitudes (eg. FL300)?
