His pattern of posting on BT is clearly aimed primarily at that task. Mike C.

Option 2: Don't read threads started by Chip. You already own your last plane, you've done a great job describing the decision making that lead you to it, you don't like brokers, and you think Chip talks too much. Why do you keep coming in and pissing in his threads?

Also, BT depends upon new postings to attract and retain folks who join. The more people who join and the longer they stay, the healthier the forum. The sponsors keep the place going. It is hard to argue that folks dislike Chip's posts when we are 127 pages into this one. My guess is that if the owners/managers of BT thought that Chip was overstepping, they would say so. Really is their responsibility, and their prerogative, to police the forum.
Just let it go... you are not going to change Chip's mind and he is not going to change yours.

It seems that Mike has drawn a line of sorts, between himself and Chip. At least he has done so in a reasonable and civil manner. I respect both men and their opinions. BT has changed and is changing. There are a lot more posters now with little knowledge and less experience that wade in to every question whether asked or not. There are many negative "presences" on BT today. Neither Chip nor Mike are of that group. Jg

Norman, I never thought about the "wives" influence. That gave me a really good laugh to start the day. Jg

I see his posts as educational, not self promotional. In contrast much of your posts come across as adversarial.

I think they have mutual respect for each other but can’t resist a jab here and there. Both really know their stuff and most of their differences are pretty trivial. I actually enjoy it. Maybe it keeps them from arguing the wives. Hilarious Norman and me bets much truth in your comments. One thing I think I know after reading MC’s post for a few years. I would happily climb in the back of his airplane and depart in whatever weather he deems safe as long as he served passengers a good scotch or bourbon. Pretty sure Chip would gladly sit beside me. On a personal note I thought Mike was a bit over the top years ago stating he went to sim training multiple times a year. I just returned from 3 hours in sim after doing recurrent in January. For me Sim training several times a year is very valuable and well worth the trouble. Thanks Mike

You may not find that very, "friendly" or to your liking, but many of us find it very enlighting and educational. IMHO, We need more people to challenge the status quo, it's called critical analysis.

It’s time to update this thread.
Inventory levels are increasing. I wouldn’t say anywhere near “normal” levels, but certainly not critically low. We’re currently looking for several popular and recently considered unattainable aircraft, such Citation CJ3, 3+ and CJ4… as well as Phenom 300 and we’ve actually found several options! We’re still seeing a lot of airplanes with foreign history and / or damage history, but at least we have options, a year ago we would find one decent airplane and suggest our client buy it before someone else did!
I don’t suspect this is the beginning of a crash as many have proclaimed, but just the normal settling after a buying frenzy. It will tighten back up in the 4th quarter as tax saving once again blind buyers to simple things like negotiating and getting a prepurchase inspection.
Long term, as long as the airlines resemble public transportation, folks with money… and there are a bunch of them… will continue to charter. As long as they do, demand will remain high and inventory low. I think the best we can hope for is stability.

I think the amounts are tapering but am curious if you still think it will be motivating for people. It falls to 80% this year. People generally have to be making money to want to depreciate an asset. Looking at Q1 financials of public companies, some are still doing quite good and others are showing signs of distress. I would suspect this story is true in the private business world too. The other headwind is banks' willingness to lend and to what LTV. I am suspecting, they are wanting more cash in the deal to make sure they don't go upside down if the market has a correction. To Chip's point; I've taken flights on 2 different airlines in the last 2 weeks and both have had operational failures. It resulted in missed or cancelled flights. Talking to one customer service representative, they think it's only going to get worse going into the summer. I will say in both cases , they have been very accommodating about giving cash refunds. I was happy to have alternative travel available.

I’m not sure how crazy it will get, but we are enjoying the buyer friendly market while we can!

There's nothing "critical" about a lack of used airplanes in the market. It is the best thing to happen to general aviation in a while. Used planes go up in value, they get more upgrades, planes that might have been retired are kept flying, even some derelict planes get fixed up, new planes sell well, more people flying GA overall. This is what success looks like for the GA ecosystem. Instead of dying out, it is growing. We should celebrate instead of lament about this. It would be far more "critical" if there was a huge glut of everybody dumping their airplanes. Mike C.
