If you'd let my old bird soil the tarmac next to your newer ones, we should all meet up at the Waypoint Cafe at CMA when we have our birds! Best to do that on the day they have the fish tacos special... They are great. Edit: With all those new(ish) TBMs at Avex, all three of our aircraft are relatively geriatric compared to the rest of the turbine population on the East side of CMA. Edit edit: Adam, great to hear yours is nearly ready.

Delays due to the shop needing more time to inspect a potential squawk uncovered during the annual/prebuy and very limited working days over the holidays. Had to fly United across the US for Xmas visit to Virginia, to a destination ~5 minutes down the road from Manassas airport. I keep driving past the sign for the municipal airport every time I do anything, it's like a big tease... At least I'm getting plenty of opportunity to consider my decision to make this big leap. Edit: I'm pretty sure I'm a bit crazy to make this step but that is ok... I'm right there with you. The MU2 I have under contract is still having the 100 hour and pre buy being done. About every 48 hours I'm saying "do I really need this? Am I crazy?" Usually I pull up this picture of the panel showing 275kts at 60gph and that buys me another 2 days....

In my 8 years of MU2 ownership, longest down time was 2 weeks for inspection. I've never had to wait for parts. The reputation of Turbine Commanders is that they do spend more time in the shop. I don't really know if this is true, but the stories I hear are consistent with this thread. Mike C.

At this point my delay is due to doing to do my prebuy/annual at the last minute at a busy shop during the holidays... No waiting on parts, just delays as they try to squeeze me into a busy schedule with limited working days.

I have a photo like that of my new panel it helps to keep frustration in check.
Nice to hear others with the same issues.
I go to Dfw for business maybe we can show off our planes when they get airborne,
Or you can visit us in Camarillo, I have a room for you.

Sorry, late to this tread. Yes, there are a lot of commanders often used as bird dogs in forest fire operations. There are probably 10-15 of them based here in Red Deer alone. They used to use Aerostars but my understanding is that somewhere along the way the government contracts started requiring the use of turbine powered equipment. Like the Aerostar they were selected due to their excellent forward visibility. Glenn
