Since they aren't great vehicles, and they depreciate like a rock....I'd question any Jet selection they make

The netjet's or wheels up card makes more sense

Just a data point. My wife IS NOT a plane person, does not like Boeing, does not like Airbus, etc etc. Tolerates my 182 because it makes me smile. (I did manage to get picked by the right girl).

She saw a Cirrus Jet at an AOPA event in Florida a couple years ago. She actively liked it - "can we get one" liked it. I am still a little shocked. The interior on the display model was not even special but something about its looks inside made her like it a lot. Asked how/when we could get one...

Still shocked. That is their marketing sense, somehow.

RAS

PS, she has no clue about the chute. If she did I might have to change jobs to get the $...

As I have stated, coming from an SR22, Cirrus has done an amazing job of nailing all the little things. It starts from the moment you walk up to the plane. It has a key fob to lock/unlock that looks (and works) exactly like a car, right down to the puddle lights. In my plane it's all flashlights until you get the battery on and then turn on the ice light to illuminate the entrance. Then you have things like the climate control system. In an SR22 (and I assume a VJ) it looks exactly like the one in your car. In my plane there is no way a non-pilot could figure out how to adjust the temperature, know when to use freon A/C vs the ACM, etc. In the SR22 the HVAC was on the right side and my wife could easily manage it on her own. The chute also has a powerful appeal to non-pilots. My wife and I had a few discussions about what would happen if I had a medical issue. We talked about her getting her PPL or at least doing a pinch hitter's course. So far she hasn't been worried enough to follow through with either of those. I expect my 12 year old will start flight training before she does.

Anyway, I agree with Chip and Glenn. Saying one needs "permission" is a strong statement. Assuming your relationship is healthy and they will be flying in it, this kind of purchase is simply something in which you would involve your spouse.

My wife is silly enough to get back into a 700 lb experimental immediately after an engine failure, so she may not be the best data point for the Cirrus marketing team.

But yeah, she weighs in on all of the plane purchases.

My wife and I looked at all our options together both when looking at the Meridian and then when moving to a Jet. It’s not a matter of permission but excitement and involvement. We both love the process and research and since we both travel together all the time, making sure each one was comfortable in it. Which is why we are in a Phenom and not an M2 or anything with a floor yoke.

And she drives a desert sand G63 off road bombing down crappy unpaved lands.

Assuming my G Wagon couple are only interested in a new airplane, which airplane should they buy?

G Wagon - stone age design with a fancy interior. I might go for a new one of these.

I agree with others that certifying the eclipse with Garmin, extending the wings for more fuel and they would have an absolute winner assuming the gross wt increases. Many pilots fly themselves or with one or two passengers making it very marketable.

I'm surprised this is the first time this has been brought up. Some of the greatest appeals of moving to the 501 from the SR22 for my wife were being able to move around in flight and having a lav. It's only been used twice but just having it there is comforting to her.

I understand TBM lost a lot of sales to the PC12 because the TBM didn’t have a LAV.

Another question for the wife’s is “would you rather have a parachute or a toilet?”

G wagon is old tech and so uncomfortable. Anyone that buys one of those is only worried about what others think. It’s an emotional purchase.

So yeah a G wagon owner will want a new plane regardless of how horrible the performance is.

Both the Cirrus Jet and TBM can have a porta potty LAV installed. I think it's $18k or so on the Cirrus Jet. Goes in the back where the kiddie seats are.

Reality, the Cirrus Jet isn't up long enough to really make use of it. For my family on road trips we are are good planning 2 1/2-3 hour stops. Longer than that, is borrowed time.

The TBM potty is a joke. It’s expensive, takes up more than one seat and reduces UL.

IF THE SF50 has a potty it would be the same as the TBM, a joke and expensive and no privacy.
