I am surprised this thread is still alive!

Only when you mention "chute" or single engine jets!

I imagine it will die within a few months when either the 1) test pilots won't fly it or 2) They fly it, but performance isn't anything special and/or 3) Something happens during the test.

He's out of money and I imagine a lot of people have gotten their escrow (minus fee) back especial with the economic conditions right now.

Timing sure sucks for him. He was so close then got kicked in the balls by CV-19.

Hopefully he can get it flown. Not sure what will happen after that but I want to see it fly.

I wish him the best.

Mike

I think you have that backwards.
He was clearly circling the drain.
Now it can perhaps be blamed on external factors.

I've watched a bunch of Mike Patey's build videos since he crashed Draco, and I'm in awe of his engineering and build talents. Too bad he wasn't involved in the Raptor project.

Mike would have quickly realized that the cost and performance goals were not all simultaneously feasible, at which point Peter would have ignored him the way he ignored the other experts who were formerly involved.

Well... If Raptor can't fly, It will be one more victim to Covid-19...

And may save the lives of the test pilots.

So Covid does save lives.

I have little doubt that is can fly, but serious doubts that it will be as fast as a Berkut, or that it will haul as much payload as far.

As for pressurization, that ship sailed when the rear window cracked. There is way too much plexiglass in that thing for any kind of pressure differential beyond static.

This is what has amazed me from the start of this.. adventure.

I've seen no evidence that there is any real engineering modeling going on here; it seems to be all about preciously naive hope.

Dreamers are important, for without imagination and near-reckless ambition, nothing new happens. But, surely, there are limits?

When i was about six, i tried to reinvent the parachute. I should have worked on my landing technique, man the ground was hard and my knee evev harder when it hit my chin.
Thankfully Darwin was not watching.

If I recall correctly the rear window cracked at static - ambient pressure.

Nothing to worry about there, when you pump up the cabin the pressure on the windows will make them stronger.
