Is it possible to find somebody with a CJ3 that occasionally needs a PC-12? If so, you could do a mutual lease deal where you each had access to the other's airplane.

I'm not a fan of leasing but in this case the downsides and exposure balance out and you'd have an owner flying your plane who understands how much skin you have in the game.

I hangar with a CJ3 that never flies. Owner is too rich. Won't let me touch it. Ha.

I bet you've said no to folks that wanted to lease your PC-12 too.

MH's quote about sharing airplanes "I'd rather share my wife"

Yup. Exactly.... But, Mine flies a lot. That poor CJ3 sits for months at a time.

That wouldn't be good for piston powerplants. Are turbines more tolerant of long periods of disuse?

Nothing likes to sit and there's more to the plane than just the engines.

But their response to my comments about "sitting" were..... "well it's on programs, anything that breaks gets fixed".

If you had $100MM in the bank, would you spend 10% of your net worth on a jet? Serious question.

My target for capital cost of my aircraft is 10% of my net worth (give or take). My target for annual operating cost is 10% of my income (give or take).

I am comfortable spending that much for a hobby/something that I want. If (and when...they used to, but not anymore) the aircraft are a business tool then the equation changes and more is appropriate.

The amount you CAN spend in aviation is limitless. These are just my personal targets to set some limits on myself.

So to answer your question...YES in that case, I would buy the jet.

Glenn

Now I'm getting quotes for HSI, wing pull etc. on my plane since I won't be trading it in.

What's up with your HSI and what's a wing pull?

I went to the PC12 dealership yesterday with my money to buy an airplane that was sitting right there in the hangar and they told me "no". These PC12's are hot. :D

There is no way to like your post on For Sale, but that point is spot-on! RUMINT is that the build slots are sold out for 2019 as well. It is one of the few times that a fat stack of cash or bank letter can't buy something.

When you stack it up, would the new Denali will be able to compare against your used PC-12, outside of the warranty and new plane smell? Unless they change the laws of aerodynamics and thermodynamics the Denali will just be a larger engine and to have comparable fuel burn will mean that it needs to fly higher.

HSI = Hot Section Inspection

Wing Pull is another required inspection.

All part of owning turbines.

I would. My plane and my Tesla are about the best uses for money I've found. 10% is reasonable.

OK. Now I need get $100MM in the bank. Then I'll buy a $10MM jet. I agree with you.

HSI is due at 2000 hours. Mine has 1750. I'll get it done in the next year or before I sell.

Every 10 years PC12's need wing removal and inspection. It's not mandatory but my salesman is telling me a buyer will want it done. So I'm getting it done.

I think 10% is reasonable also.

Phenom 300 - $10MM
PC24 - $10MM
CJ3+ - $7.4MM
