I have an STC I can get for those size tires, but I really want to try and get the Goodyear blimp tires field approved. I know it can be done. Do I have any need for that---not at all! Your picture really made me realize that your size is more than what i need though. That is very encouraging! Did my first tailwheel lesson yesterday, very fun. Stalls are a bit different in this plane than any I have every flown. I also slowed it down to 35mph before it stalled with full flaps. That is crazy! -jason

8.50 are fine and more than you need, anything bigger it flys like crap out of pavement.
I have a pair of 26" bushwheels on the C185 that I haven't use since I paved my runway as like you said they grab and wair out like butter on pavement. The season is short as I put it on skis in the winter.
Unless you really need to land on sandbars then that's a different story.

First of all "need" doesn't figure into this airplane at all! The 26" goodyears are supposed to be pretty decent on pavement, but that is just hearsay - but they will last a good long time, unlike the ABW. No skis needed her in Socal. It's always funny for a midwesterner to watch what happens when the temperature drops below 60 - scarves, full on coats, boots - quite entertaining.

Try putting the STOL kit on... with VGs it doesn't stall at all. Pull the stick all the way back to the stop and it just has the nose in the sky and sort of mushes downwards, no break.

Why would you do that? Then you couldn't spin it!
