Easy as pie to fly and so much fun. Todd, that is really incredible. You are a far better pilot than I am. I consider myself average with a lot to learn, and try to find people to learn from. When I think I'm ready I like to validate that with at least one other qualified person, so that I know I'm not just a legend in my own mind. I got my tail dragger endorsement 10 years ago and haven't flown tailwheel really since then. The Citabria is very docile but it can still bite if mishandled, and I don't want to get hurt or bend metal. At Tahoe there was a cross wind and my landing was ugly... despite flying 6.2 hours yesterday it was really only 3 landings and that's where I think I need work... I'll do at least a few more hours of dual. I'd also like to explore the flight envelope with someone who knows the plane really well, do some stalls and spin it, etc. I need training for that.

Nah Adam, I just had a feel for taildraggers. They are a lot like helicopters - you have to be on the pedals all the time. I prefer wheel landings as I feel I have more control. One thing that is tempting, but can get you in trouble is trying to taxi on the mains and turn with rudder and brake. Save that for when you get some time You will have a blast with the machine. Enjoy the slow flight burning about 5-6 GPH.

My Dad has a 7ECA that I don't get to fly enough but is so much fun.
So your GCBC what motor does it have and what kind of fuel burn and TAS are you getting? It's a 160HP Lycon O-320 with ported and flowed cylinders and a climb prop. It served light duty as back country/STOL plane in Idaho for camping and hunting trips for the prior owner so he wasn't interested in speed, although he threw in an extra cruise prop in the deal. Cruise speed was slow, about 95-100 kts but she climbs like crazy. I didn't buy this plane to go fast so I'll probably leave the climb prop on there. Fuel burn was about 7 gph leaned the old fashioned way and pulling about 2500 rpm. It also has VG's and the bigger wheels with no wheel pants.

Adam:
Congratulations and welcome to the Baron-Citabria/Decathlon club. I've been a member for about four months - best aviation decision I ever made. You are going to have a blast.
So, for you guys who insist on never letting someone else fuel your plane, did Adam err?
Craig

Craig I do not insist, and if anyone did they are wrong. Tim

Very thorough, you got her from every angle, back, front, and side.
