Maintenance costs have gotten better as all the clutch's and gearboxes are (or soon to be) 600 hr items and engine TBR's have been extended to 1500 hrs (but if you are part 91 you can run them as long as you like)

In that case, just run them to failure since an engine out in a twin is a non-event. :duck: :hide:

Kidding aside, that's a gorgeous airplane, and 170KTAS on 10gph is just phenomenal... especially for a twin.

Is there a fuel heating system for use in your Alberta winter, or is Jet-A fluid at -30?

Thanks David

An engine out is very tame in the DA42 and this one has the VG's so I'm looking forward to seeing how much they improve the low speed and SE handling.

As Marcus stated PRIST for cold temps, but the fuel will heat itself by means of return fuel from the injection system.

Congrats Doug, 20 mpg is pretty efficient for a kerozene burner.

Paul, Jet A1 is good to -47.

Neat bird
I'm still a believer in diesels. Seems like the"already here" alternative.

Can't wait to see a vid or pic.

Because 17 people in Butte, MT died when their pilot forgot to do so.

Pure jet-A is good to whatever number -47 or so. The traces of water often found as contaminant are not and will crate ice-needles that clog up your fuel filters.

Because most people expect a PC12 to go higher than 12K. As you get higher it does get colder, and it gets much colder than any contaminates will freeze and cause problems.

The coldest flight I've had was -40C at 28k coming back for Utah.

Are we talking C or F?
