Probably the reason for the low time engine:

#FAA1
Accident/Incident Occurred on: 2007-11-08
Narrative: (-23) ON A PERSONAL FLIGHT UNDER VFR CONDITIONS FROM BWG TO WDR, AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A HARD LANDING. AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO PROPELLER AT THE BLADE TIPS.

I think the reason for the low-time engine is, if you are going to make-up a plane to use as bait for suckers, you may as well make up a nice one.

I noted that he says "Asking $35K" in the description, but is it possible that he seeking more. What if someone had a non-internet buyer interested at $50K, could he just bid it up himself and put that buyer in at $50K when the time is right?

I'm just thinking back many years ago when my brother put an ad in the paper for his '69 Camaro RS. He was "asking $3000 OBO", but it sold for nearly $6K. He had to sell it, priced it low, and received lots of response based on the low price, and then enticed a bidding war over the following week.

Does that ever happen on eBay with 'no reserve' auctions?

If someone really wants this....I'd contact the new owner to verify. I'm betting that this one is a Nigerian scammer....hoping to fleece a $2K deposit from some poor sucker.

Like the saying goes, "If it seems to good to be true..................
It would be nice to know the story behind this. Some Bonanza guy playing a joke on his Mooney owning buddy!

I usually check out ebay every few days for Bonanzas. A lot of older Bonanzas have gone thru lately.

It was gone before I saw the add, but this is the last Mooney deal. There was a flood and these are the photos before it was fixed and hit eBay. I remember it looking beautiful in the adds after the repairs with no mention of previous damage. No kidding. The insurance salvaged the plane and even had the airframe disassembled, but the scrap was purchased and rebuilt.

Here's a link to to a thread outing the seller of the flooded Mooney on their forum. I don't know if I'd buy a plane on eBay.
