OK, time for details.
Pics, or it never happened.

While we're at it...
...do I gather, from reading that (very convincing) point-by-point comparison between the TCM turbo SR22 and the TAT SR22 that Cirrus has stopped marketing the TAT as a factory option?

They quit building 36TC's 10 years ago. You'd have a point if they were still being built.

Converting a TC to TN is, I suspect, more complicated than converting NA to TN, particularly if you want to upgrade the compression from 7.5 to 8.5. I'd guess the feeling among TC owners is "it's good enough, I've just paid a bunch of money for TC, I don't particularly want to lavish another 50AMU on this engine".
I really don't understand Cirrus' decision, though - seems like a great leap backward to a 30 year old engine technology. But Cirrus badly needs sales to keep its doors open, and TCM may have made them an offer they couldn't refuse.

Quote: TCM may have made them an offer they couldn't refuse. I think you just broke the code. That, and the folks running Cirrus now aren't . . . uh . . . well . . . "well versed" comes to mind. I wish GAMI would just buy Superior and start making engines!

GE sold a lot of turbines in the past due to available credit from GE Capital. Do you think a little extra credit from TCM for motors had anything to do with Cirrus' new TN offering? Cirrus has had two years of losses (that they announced), and and deals like this get struck in times like these. I've seen it in boats. It's the motor guys that keeps the manufacturers swimming in tough times.
