Well, if you're coming to town, we're having a little "private" party Saturday evening after all the activites at the Air Force Museum. It'll be at the Moraine Airpark (I73)down in the large brick hanger (AKA, WACO hanger). You're welcome to drop by - I'll likely be the one slaving over the grill! We've got two groups setup - one will be staged at a location right by the approach end of the landing runway and the other will be flying up to Urbana to catch the departures. They are supposed to start leaving Grimes at 7:00AM and launch one every 2 minutes. They open things to the public at 10:00AM, but the arrival will be WAY cool! We hope to show the video from both groups Saturday evening at the Moraine. If you're flying in, Moraine is the friendly airport in the area. I live on the field, so let me know if there's anything you need...

I tried a few calls, emailed Chris Patton the museum director at Grimes, who just said they didn't recommend flying in this weekend, didn't answer my questions about notams/air boss etc. I'm busy all weekend, but was planning to fly down there Friday late afternoon with my student, whose grandfather was a B-25 pilot. I believe they are closing the ramp at 7:30PM. Other than that, the field is open. I'll let you all know tonight, 'cause I'm heading up there at 4:00. I'm also planning on going up early Saturday morning to see the departures. If the field isn't closed I don't see what they can do about it. I was just going to park off in the grass somewhere out of the way and take pictures.

Yeah I don't see why they'd need to close; I was figuring the big grass area between the ramp and taxiway would still be open for parking. Hopefully the wx cooperates for tomorrow-make sure you post some pix for us!!

Very nice. I've got lots and lots of pics, but it's tired, and I'm very late... er... it's late and I'm very tired. I'll post some tomorrow. Thanks Brad, hoping that this cold front today is a non-event so I can get down there....I couldn't get out of work til 530 yesterday to get down there.
