Was it the 401 that had the serious issue with the rudder? It was one of these low number 400 series planes. IIRC they were not of sufficient size to handle single engine operations or something such.

Not a small consideration in my book.

Wasn't that the 911? er, I mean 411?

I don't think many.
In years past some underwriters wouldn't even quote them.
It was like getting insurance on an Apache!

Yup, I've got one...a nice airplane.
Rudder forces can be high if an engine fails at a low speed, however, keep it at 120mph or more, not a problem.
Fit VG's...problem goes away.
I know a guy in Tasmania that has two, one he flies, the other is for parts...mostly engine parts as the GTSIO engine used in unlike no other GTSIO engine. IE: different reduction gear ratio versus the others.
Mine is insured through Tokyo Fire and Marine...for $1/year.

That would be the Chieftain, the Mojave is pressurized. The CR or straight Navajo are the shorter fuselage with 6 or 7 passengers seats.

Big difference on 401 and 402. The 402 is much better layout, bigger nose, and is often set up for a commuter operation. The 401 is too small. I'm not a fan of either.

Sort of a Navajo vs. Chieftain setup ?

Done as a courtesy, as we have three large aircraft (three B727's) insured through the same company.

How about a 401 that was recently 135, has the spar done, has a 530, but needs an engine?

If the price is right, anything is possible.
The 401 is a nice flying airplane.
I picked up several new ones form the factory, many years ago.

Just curious... Is a 340 much cheaper to own/operate than a Duke?

Nope. I love the E55... it's easy on the eyes, a real dream to fly, and presents less hassles than most women.
