It can be easily stored aboard and launched from and recovered by small ships and/or operate in littoral AOR’s. Low and slow flyers may have an (swarm?) advantage if targeting and fire control systems ignore low & slow ops or swarms. It is also cheap and could be built and deployed quickly, with minimal support.
They own Searey and have for years. They also own most of the drone and model airplane companies too. I'm not sure what my point is but I don't see the difference in these and the Icon.

The Searey is a fine flyer and has good manners on the water. If I was buying a recreational amphib for flatwater, I would buy the Searey.

With everything the ccp has already hoovered up I'm suprised that the dust speck known as ICON would warrant any attention at all. By the way - Hoover is now owned by Techtronic, based in Hong Kong. The Chinese government, however, does not play by the same rules. https://www.fbi.gov/file-repository/chi ... 9.pdf/view

Even assuming the united states military faces a legitimate threat from this aircraft, which is ridiculous, the Chinese could make thousands of them by just buying one and copying the design.

when the diesel engine company EPS went bankrupt, it was prevented from being bought by the Chinese. It was bought by general atomics for UAV use and possible commercial sale. a government organization, CFIUS over sees the sale of US companies to foreigners if there are any defense ramifications. https://home.treasury.gov/policy-issues ... s-overview

It ain’t about these aircraft being a direct threat to the USA. China is working to grow their worldwide influence. Consider Africa: China has 1+ million workers in Africa. The airports and ports they are building are unlikely to be limited to only commercial ops. Probably not unlike the way the USA attempts to install “friendly” governments and equip them with basic surveillance and light attack aircraft … which we are also doing in Africa.

China takes the long view unlike us where anything more than a year or two away is too far to plan for.
Many US companies have been taken because the US executives looked at profits in the next few years and China planning what will happen 10 years in the future.
to really understand the oriental mind read "the art of war" by Sun Tsu
It lays out how China plans to dominate the world.

2050 Zulu maybe...
I was in China last week multiple times. I'm not worried about them taking over the world...
