It looks like you can have 180 knots or 9gal/hr not both. 9 gal is fuel at max range speed which based on publish range and fuel capacity is 150 knots. Not bad but not as impressive as 180 knots.

So 180 knots might be what, 12-13 gph? I assume that engine is quite efficient since it's based on a recent automotive diesel engine.'
I'm hoping that this plane will also increase volume sales of that engine. Maybe that will then drive the development of other modern diesel aviation engines, which would be awesome. $700k for a true 5 seater with really good useful load (full fuel, 5 pax, baggage) would be amazing.

REALLY love those doors and the overall looks. I know I can't afford one so I won't even ask.................. It amazes me how different people can be when looking at the same thing. To me it looks like it crashed into the ugly tree and took out most of the branches on the way down.
Truth. From the doors forward it looks like the Elephant Man's head.

I guess A/C is an option. On the main page, it says "many optional features, such as removable right-hand control stick, oxygen system, electric air conditioning, TKS de-icing system, Garmin GCU 476 keypad or a built-in tablet mount" https://www.diamondaircraft.com/en/priv ... /overview/

I would buy one even with that ugly cowl, if they moved the control stick. Having 70 hours in a DA40 I can tell you that is the worst placement i have ever experienced. The new aircraft seat even has a fold up support in order to ingress and egress the aircraft because that primary control is right in the worst possible place. I understand the principal behind it but it is NOT a feature it is an ergonomic catastrophe.

Missed that. Now if it just doesn't brake the bank to have it installed.

With 50 gallons of fuel and some options like A/C it could still carry four reasonable sized people and light bags. For those who don't understand the aesthetics, range, lack of A/C, Diesel engine, you need to remember where this is made and who their primary market is. Three and a half hours with reserves at 170 Knots (guesstimate) is plenty for bopping around Europe. Half the houses there don't have A/C, I'm not sure they'd think their airplanes need to either. Diesel is all that anyone over there wants for price and efficiency. I can see the reason for the design. It may not be a "cross country" airplane around the US, but we're not the only pilots in the world. My guess is that they're marketing to the others.
