According to the german wikipedia the VL3 is also available in the US in the LSA category as a "VL-3 C1 (LSA)" but I believe it is the FG version (not RG) and also not the 915iS powerred plane....

These are nice speed demons. Fascinating plane. The LSA 2.0 will likely require a stall speed of 54kts. That will limit the US market if they don't meet that requirement. They indicate 74 km/h which is approximately 40kts. Pretty impressive.

...but the FAA will still limit it to 10,000 feet unless it's within 2000 AGL. Granted, I would not want to be at 16,500 over the top of Mount Whitney or 15,500 flying over Grand Teton, potentially getting my teeth rattled by a rotor or three. Granted, the climb gradient needed to "summit" those mountains might be challenging, too.
That's one heck of a cool looking, and capable, plane for the price!

That's one heck of a cool looking, and capable, plane for the price! With full power carried to 15,000 courtesy of the 916iS that should not be a problem. The high gust penetration speed of 170kias is also of interest. Here in FL I would definitely ceramic tint that greenhouse canopy. My cars are tinted and it makes a huge difference.
