This is true, but I think she’s a keeper. My wife said it was smaller than she thought when she first saw it, but we were in the back seat for the initial test flight. By the time we landed, she was like, “OK hun, I want this plane.” Right answer!

I own half of a 2007 with G1000 and GFC 700 AP. I have flown it all over. Great cross country platform or a breakfast run. And, wait for it.... everything works! :D

We are just running it ROP and burning the gas with CHT 380F. In the big picture...

Looking forward to plenty of trip reports!

Keep a sticky note on you gtn750 that says “Rudder Gust Lock!” and only peel it off if you have the gust lock in your other hand.

I am paranoid about stuff like that. I remove everything including the tie downs and chocks before I unlock the plane. Then I unlock the cargo compartment and put them in. After my walk around, I check the cargo compartment again. I have heard nightmares about people forgetting things like that.

I hear ya. After I’ve got everything ready to go, I always walk 30-40 feet away and take one last look so I see the whole plane at once.

Yep. We are both CPR certified and have taken trauma classes.

Congratulations. 182s are great planes.

The T182 is a lot faster than the non T. Great panel setup. The mix of glass and steam gauges is the best in my opinion.

The toughest part right now is waiting longer to flare. I am so paranoid about the nose gear that I am glaring early.
I wonder if the fixed gear Skylane lands like the RG? It took somebody to tell me that if I’m landing at a normal runway it lands better with 20 degrees of flaps. Won’t get the sudden drop right before main wheels touch. THUMP! Try it. Of course short or soft field landings use your 30 degrees.

Congratulations on your beautiful Skylane. Not the best at anything, but very good at a lot of things. Then there’s the Lycoming engine...yes. You and your wife have a great airplane to be happy about.

I only did a few full flap landings and two of those were engine out 180s. The rest were 20-degree flap landings, with one no flap landing thrown in for good measure. I watched a Todd Peterson video where he talked about the fact that the stall speed difference from 20-30 flaps was only a couple of knots. He recommended landing at 20 degrees for that reason unless you need a steeper descent.

Even with my Archer, I like landing with 2 notches of flaps. It just feels better to me. I am not sure why.

My clubs 182rg is old enough that it has 40 degrees of flap, the fixed gear we have has 30 max so most of us land both with 20 unless you need it and I see no real difference between the two.

Consistently great landings elude me in both. Just when I think I have it with a 1/2 dozen good ones in a row I plop The next one in. Perhaps a Bonanza is the answer?
