Tomahawk reborn!

They could probably sell the heck out of Dakotas if they restarted that line.

I think an ideal trainer would be 3 seats, with the 3rd being mounted middle and behind in stadium style between the pilot and copilot for observation. It should be spacious for today's larger people, and have enough useful load to fly all three people around for 2.5-3 hrs. it should have a simple, bullet proof Lycoming engine like a 320 or 360 and inexpensive modular avionics like the G3X. It should be designed for easy maintenance with a purchase price around 200k.

Assuming it's not a whole new trainer model (see the Mooney M10), my hope would be for either a revamped PA28-236 or PA32 (fixed or retract). Dunno if they could get pilot's side doors on either, but that would be ideal, if there wouldn't be a large weight penalty.

Since they came out with the M600, I've felt that they should create a spacious, ultra luxury 4 seat version of the M500. I even sent their marketing mailbox a detailed suggestion along those lines. Never heard back from them. If they name it the M504, then I'll know they took my idea without acknowledging it!

Here's the profile view. This is clearly a new update of the Archer. It's hard to make out, but I see shadows of nose gear, so not a retract (particularly not after the change to Commercial checkride requirements).

Here is the same photo with maximum exposure, contrast and shadow details. Not much more to see... No gear outline visible, but it doesn’t mean anything...

Actually the G1000 makes good sense; adding a G1000 makes the Archer a TAA so it can be used from private though ATP.

But so would G3x at about 1/5 the system cost and no TCDS avionics lock in.

True enough, I wasn’t thinking of the avionics package as much as the end game - thanks for the correction.

That being said, the market for this may be less concerned about avionics lock in than the average buyer and they would likely prefer consistency across the fleet if they already have other G1000 planes.

I agree. If I was trying to develop a low cost trainer though I’d certify it with a six pack and then apply an STC at the factory to put G3x in. I could take $50k off the price without touching my per unit profit at all.

In a move to reduce manufacturing costs, simplify construction and improve handling they are going to bring back the Hershey Bar wings for the Cherokee line.

New 6 pack would prob cost more than a G3X
