Cessna 208. If that’s too big or needs too much runway get a Quest Kodiak.

Tradewinds Turbine Bonanza. A36 with Big rear doors, 450hp RR/Allison 250 and reversing propeller. File at 185 kts, land in 325', TO in 580'. There used to be a video on the web showing the STOL characteristics of these planes, can't find it now though... Friend of mine has one. Awesome machine, easy to fly, as it is still a Bonanza. The only downside is that its not pressurized, however that is good from a maintenance cost $$$ perspective. Get one with the hot air/bleed air intake, not the electrically heated intake, if you are searching. The electric intake has had some issues. Last I talked to Soloy at the EAA/OSH gig a couple of years ago they were making sure the intake was to be hot air heated going forward. https://www.soloy.com/a36-bonanza.html

High altitude takeoff and landing? or high altitude cruise.
How high altitude if takeoff or landing. 5000 from paved strip and hot day? 8000+ and specialized mountain operations?
How short field? Off airport or just under 3000ft length.
Piston or turbine.
It makes a big difference what airplane for the job.

See what they use. Helio Stallion is even better. Jon, who is a BT member, actually has the type certificate. For short ops, unless it's truly very short back country, there is no better traveling and short field bird than what JC says. We took the airplane to El Porvenir last year. 1900ft (debatable IMHO) by 30ft wide, with the last 300ft unusable. Apparently the concrete was a little unstable. Had 8 folks on the airplane and enough gas to get to Bocas Del Toro. We only saw one twin otter and a Kodiak there. Attachment: elporvenir.jpg

If that's the turbo stallion I saw take off at OSH one year, it's the most impressive things I've ever seen. An elevator with wings.

It's got a turbine engine on it. http://helioaircraft.com/ourplanes_stallion.htm
Interesting thing about the Helio's is that there is no stall speed.......it don't stall.......just waddles down.
