Congratulations Terry, thrilled for you. She looks beautiful. Username Protected wrote: Congratulations! You will love it.

I own SN272. Has anyone owned a TBM and NOT loved it? The Mustang, Baron and TBM are perhaps the only three models I can think of that fall in that category. David (considering SN20x at present)

Nice Terry, You will love the TBM. My previous C2 was sn 267. Username Protected wrote: It's official. My plane partner (Gabe, also a BT'r) and I closed on a TBM700C2 today.
My training starts Sat with Simcom in a few weeks!

use a buyers agent?
is TBMOPA the best source? TBMOPA is great, lots of threads on maint items. BT has been good, several TBM owners here. I know someone who worked for Socata at one time, he was a good resource. Not sure if you can get a login to mysocata.com without owning a Socata, but since we had the Trinidad I had a login and had access to all the TBM maint manuals, IPC, wiring, and parts prices. They are all free once you have the login. Asked a lot of questions of sellers, went and looked at one that Image Air had and asked lots of questions. We had talked to sales at Columbia Air Services in Groton, CT. Ken Dono said he would keep his eyes open if anyone was moving up from an A model. Jim Celentano (dir of maint) was great to talk to. After looking for a year and not finding anything we really liked, we called Neal and asked about engaging him to find us one, but that morning Ken at Columbia called with a great deal on a C2 model that still had 1000 left on the engine and original avionics (which is what I wanted since I work part time for an avionics shop and can get a great deal on new avionics). We talked to Neal anyway and even though he knew we had found something else he still was a great resource. I'm sure we will have maint surprises, but there are no deferred maint items and not much expensive coming up for a few years.

If you call Avex to inquire about one of their planes they’ll give you a 5 year projection of maintenance costs based on required and recommended calendar and hour items. I found this service very useful. No matter what, it usually turns out to be around 40k/yr average. Years that don’t have 6 year items or a C check are less, when those are due it’s more. I’ll also second the endorsement of TBMOPA. Lots of good info on the site, and I’ve gotten some very good help on the forums.

Same with Columbia. They gave us a 9 page report of all the recurring inspections, and the last several A+, B+, C+ inspections (with invoicing).

Missing the Baron is all. Attachment: FC2C6334-5635-4BBB-BFDA-355289B95B7B.jpeg Jim has been at Simcom this week. He got this through Columbia the end of Nov. Good folks. Enjoy your ride.
