I'm guessing you are on the right track, but it has to do with the fuselage. The bulkheads on either side of the door are tapered together at the top to reduce their size because the horizontal span is less and make the cabin larger inside. And the header at the top of the door would be shorter and could be smaller. That's my guess anyway
