This might be true of the first gen Arrows, but the later ones have a spring loaded pin that holds the override lever up. You pull the lever up, press the pin in from the side and then release the lever and it stays up until you lift it off the pin and release again. I don't remember if this went into production for the Arrow II or III, but I think I remember my dad's Arrow II having the pin.
