A lot of us moved here when another board had issues. I didn't immediately join as I wanted to see how it worked a bit, so, I'm not a founding member but have stayed on here since the beginning. There were a lot of folks I already liked and knew and a lot more great folks joined. The Jeffs have had a LOT to do with getting this off the ground and going in the right direction. Several boards tried doing something and it didn't work out well; the Jeffs did it and did it right. Great board; people with good manners welcome!

To me, I think BeechTalk is such a great site for these two reasons (among many others):

1. The average BT'er wants to learn, help, and share. 'Nuff said.

2. The average BT'er is a reasonable person that doesn't get into pissing contests. Yes, every once in a blue moon, a thread gets into the weeds. But there are hundreds of examples of informative and fair dialogues here. Even better is the regularity that you read about non-Beech products being praised/admired. I find it refreshing.

Jeff, you're right on point.

Additionally, by having the secret "Beechcraft" only forum room, we can bash the other brands secretly.

Just kidding. It is great that pilots and owners of all brands can come here and get an answer. We have such a diverse membership that there is always someone that knows the answer.

BT obviously heavy on Beech input, but from what I see due to its openness it is the largest GA forum out there. I also go to a model specific site, unfortunately the group is so small there are posts requesting technical info and the replies are often years apart.
BT has such a large and active base response is often near immediate.

Though I am likely on the bottom of the bell curve, the majority of the posts appear far more intelligent and thoughtful than what I have seen on other forums.

I also note for the most part we are very respectful of each other.

If the site where to go down, no doubt I would need some form of counciling and a twelve step program. Hell, I might even speak to my wife more often, oh' she is wrapped up with Words with Friends.

To the Jeff's, I have been spanked a couple times, thank you for keeping the culture bar high.

If I'd have posted a reply, it'd be near duplicate.

Best observation thus far. I'd add that it's also fair.

While true, it is seldom (almost never) that the average user of a forum is the one that screws it up and makes it unpleasant.

The effort to herd the herd, and cull the herd, makes a real difference.

The vast majority of BTers selflessly give of their knowledge where they may have expertise. If you ask a question on any topic, there is one or more people in our collective mass who is qualified and willing to share his/her knowledge. I can't think of another resource as diverse as BT.

I would say I am pretty new to BT but compared to other aircraft specific sites free or otherwise this is one active, which is key to me, and everyone has good discussions where I can learn, even if I don't post. Such as avionics, I like checking there or talking about other, new aircraft.

Plus when you do ask a question, whether it is a post or a PM I feel that people here want to and like to help us all out, regardless of what we fly because all that really matters is that we fly and have fun (safely!).

Huge kudos to Jeff and Jeff (or whomever is responsible) for the overall layout and feel, easy to navigate and inviting, I believe this encourages a lot of input!

I joined when I was deciding what kind of plane to buy. I was impressed with the quality of discussion and stuck around, even though I didn't end up getting a Beechcraft.

I'm addicted as much to BT as I am to flying. Can't get enough. So much information, so little time. If I can't get out flying, I can at least hang out here!

For me, it's the people. I have met some astounding people because of BT that I would never have met without the site. I'll be forever thankful because of that.

Let's talk about politics and religion. :duck: :duck: :duck:

'Best thing about BT is these are forbidden, and real names are required.

The best thing for me, personally, is the hundreds, many hundreds, of BT'rs I've met in person. I've not met a BT'r I didn't like. I tip my glass to each of them:
