We have used a Seneca to do video of a Duke. With the doors removed I think the indicated airspeed limit was 130 kts. Doors are on the left side so you get primarily the right side of the photo airplane.

We're not using it, so I'd be willing to sell it if someone needed it. Pretty slick. We've used it from a boat, where it was stellar!

Hi Tom. Interesting. I'd be interested in a KS-4x4 or KS-6x6 if you'd want to sell it or that's what you have. You can PM me.

And thanks for input on camera ship.

Adam if your looking for stabilization I don't think you could do much better than one of these for the price. I got to play with one my friend was using while filming a ski movie. It was a little mind blowing how well it worked.

An A36 works pretty well - I always take both doors off (not just one).

Sean Tucker has a Seneca that he uses for all his air to air photography.

The B-25 works well.

We tried a helicopter (AS350) once, it didn't work so well (wasn't fast enough for the subject aircraft).

Each platform has its pluses and minuses, it depends on the shot list and the subject aircraft. As with everything, there is a right tool for every job.

Cessna Caravan 208/208B plenty of hold down for stabilized Equipment, and plenty of useful load to spare.

Is there a way to make photos out the right/starboard side? 'Left side photos don't show the pilots' faces.

A36 rear doors off, harness for the photographer. Plane flies exactly the same just very noisy. Photos through windows distort.

Not always gonna get distortion...just depends. I have some critically sharp air-air photos that were shot through the plexi of the co-pilot window. The light must be from the left of the planes so there will be no reflections in the photo ship window.

My 58 works pretty good. 175 KIAS with the doors off straight and level is no problem, burns a lot of fuel but works.

What is the best aircraft for maximum unobstructed views? Obviously something strut less. I've seen Cardinals getting used quite a bit, some A36's (Jessica Ambats seem to use that a lot with the rear doors removed). What else?

See attached LINK for pictures taken from the back seat of my C182.

http://www.airic.ca/html/modernaircraft.html

photographer is professional and commented that a C182 is nice due to its speed (not to fast) so that planes (usually faster) can overtake easily and pull up beside in to close quarters for pictures to be taken slightly behind the strut and out the rear/back window.

An Aerostar, of course.

EAA uses a C205 (or P206) with the rear door removed.

A36, 58, T-tail Lance, Seneca all make excellent platforms. Aircam is good too but it can't do fast.

A TN A36 can fly with a Tiger Moth or an L39. I've done both while shooting video.

Bonanza with the doors removed works great.

Adam,

If you want zero obstructions and can shoot either side then the T-34 is one of the best options. 152 knots with Canopy open.

AirCam is good for wildlife photography since it can go low and slow

I have done this a lot.

In order of readily-available favorites:

B58
Seneca II
A36
C206 (doors removed)
C210 (a little gaffing tape and the window stays affixed to leading edge)
Super Cub (front seat shooter with driver in back and both doors open; has required front seat throttle manipulation so it becomes a 'team effort' ;) )
