Wow, what memories. When I was a child, beginning when I was eight, my parents would send me to summer camp in the mountains just south of Prescott, AZ. I would board an American Airlines DC-6 in Memphis and we would usually fly a route to Little Rock, Love Field, El Paso, Tucson, and then Phoenix. Even with all these stops, my memory is that we would make this flight in just over seven hours; going and coming. As the ad says, everyone, even little boys, wore coats and ties, the stewardesses were eye candy even to my young eyes and the food was first class. A couple of times, we would be riding the DC-7 and they would cut out the Little Rock stop. My last year to summer camp was 1962 when I was 13. They had retired the pistons and it was my first ride in a jet, a 707. I remember the wings flapping like a bird on our climb out from Memphis and wondering whether they were going to just fall off. Still, I'm not paying my money for ANYONE else's flying habit. Jgreen

may chime in on that thread here… Thomas Muigg, whom you see in that (Soljet) marketing video actually was the mechanical "father" of the Red Bull DC-6B…and good old Sigi Angerer, Dietrich Mateschitz' "partner in crime" with the Flying Bulls, the "spiritual" father with the backing of the founder of Red Bull, who has maintained good spirits and an open pocketbook from the restauration to this day.. we were all brothers in arms in that same outfit for a long time…both independent now.. So Thomas "has been there and done that…" what a beautiful airplane… but not for the (financially ) faint hearted….takes about anywhere between 60 - 100 mechanics manhours per flight hour nowadays… and yes, you need a fuel farm…at least here in Europe…..if you'd drop into an airport with that lovely DC-6B and casually say…BTW,need 4000 gals of 100LL…they'd have to scramble a whole refinery to get you the fuel.. https://www.austrianwings.info/2009/11/die-konigin-der-flying-bulls/

So..... I wish I had the liquid assets similar to Red Bull and the love for aviation already given to me. I would then would have the resources to make this work... Me, too! If you ever end up in Salzburg be sure to visit the RedBull "Hangar 7" https://goo.gl/photos/xcfC385a6juHhzki7

I had know idea that Red Bull had that kind of commitment to Aviation! Guess I'll have to buy one of their drinks from time to time to help support!

Wow! In restored condition, as per the advertisement, this is one of the few birds that might have more ramp appeal than a HW500! MM

That would be cool. You have scheduled fly in to some resort town with your bajillionaire buddies, they arrive in their Citations and Gulfstreams... You arrive in that. That rear seating area behind the bar/galley must have been designed by Hugh Hefner. One can dream.

Mike C. I would expect this to have crew's quarters and a store room - as would any proper yacht / pleasurecraft.... Then again, the biggest superyachts are using "shadow yachts" now... http://blogs.wsj.com/wealth/2008/05/07/ ... dow-yacht/
