You can tell by the serial number. 550-02xx was an existing airframe finished. 550-1xxx is a full new build.

There are only two 550-1xxx on the US registry.

550-1001: N550F, owned by Aircraft Guaranty Corp Trustee in Texas. Appears to have been delivered to Europe in April 2015 using short hops due to avoiding RVSM altitudes.

550-1002: N150NE, owned by Eclipse and the delivery airplane mentioned in this thread and has not appeared in the wild per Flightaware.

Ok now I get it. Some are selling their eclipse because they like it so much that they are buying a new one! I just thought 550 something or other was a citation.

The Eclipse 550 is a very nice little jet. They honestly fixed 85% of the issues of the original jet. Of course, there are still reliability problems, glitches, design flaws, and support concerns, etc. But for only $3m what do you expect?

Since the Eclipse was basically perfect, I decided to sell it.
