I came home and immediately started helicopter lessons. In the next few years I got my private, then commercial and then instrument ratings in helicopters. I spent untold sums of money. I would probably be retired now if it were not for the fortune I spent flying helicopters. There... I told you they are dangerous. But it sure was fun. We're the ratings after private for a job?
No, I was just having fun.

You have more guts than I do, sure looks like a spectacular place to visit...<snip> Kelly, I doubt I have any more guts then you. You know the saying about old pilot and bold pilots. Maybe that was a bit of a bolder move then prudent which usually translates to foolish. I'm grateful we came back OK and that we didn't go a year later.

My guide showing off at base camp Attachment: DSC00490.JPG I couldn't let him outdo me, so I acted like a teenager too. (60 sounds like 16...) Attachment: DSC00492.JPG Lunch with the Sherpas. (Notice the guide knows how to put his shirt back on.) Now who's in the light jacket? The guy who had to carry it half way around the world... Attachment: DSC00573.JPG

Ron, those pictures are amazing thanks for sharing them. I can't believe the base camp and living in those conditions. Sounds like climber have to climatise or acclamate to the elevations, thats too rough for me. You are quite an adventurer and those are some spectacular mountains forsure!!
