The Limited Category is a variation of Standard Category and all the same rules and benefits apply. There is a type certificate just like any Baron or Bonanza has. So these 4 are not Exp Category. Thanks - did not know that. Is that true of most warbirds? Many have a Limited TC, Many Don't. So it depends. F8F-1 has one as Grumman built a couple for civil use. F8F-2 doesn't and is Exp. P-51B is the same as a C but was left off the TC for some reason. TC holder added Jack Roush's B by S/N to the TC. P-51H isn't on a TC so is Exp. Some P-51Ds were built is Austrailia. 1st they assembled for North American Supplied kits and those have a USAAC S/N and can be Limited. Later they produced their own with CAC S/Ns and those have to be Exp. American Built T-6 series is Standard, not limited, but doesn't apply to Canadian Built Harvards which are Exp. And so on...

When I got to fly formation with Tommy he had a good looking back seater with him.

We run a Roush motor and run 65GPH at Cruise. I'm full time as a Mech and spend my time between 4 A/C, Maint time varies as some years she behaves and others its a bit bitchy. Typically Bottom end is good for 800-1000 hrs but Heads and banks to have them done about 4-500 hr point. You'll have some repairs along the way so its not uncommon for the motor to come out or supercharger come off along the way. Insurance varies with coverage and usage. We do airshow performances. The owner handles that so I don't know as we recently sold the Spitfire mk XVIII and that influenced the premium more than the 51 did.

Lets start at the beginning- 1.5-3 Million Buy in 25 hrs at Stallion 51 at $3500 per hr. Might have to start with a Cub and T-6 before. Typically Insurance requirement. With your new steed you'll fly alot your 1st years. Oil change about each 25 hrs with approx 15 gals W120. Around 24-30 bucks per gallon. 25yr you adjust brakes. 50 hr you pull brakes apart and insp each stator and rotor. Can be 51 or P-63 type. IF you fly from a short strip then at 25 hr you also do insp. At 50hrs you also pull cam racks and torque head nuts. Various other things you look over. Annual maybe 15-60K depending. Prop AD every 5 yrs- 8K Engine at 800+ hrs, 100-150K Heads and Banks at 400+ hrs, 15-40K Ins has a bunch of variables, taildragger time, Commercial, ATP, time in type, ratings, coverage desired, ect. Finding riders for the back seat- Priceless
