Oh, hell yeah. Best civilian airplane ever made, pound for pound. I've got one of those too- I got something bigger, faster, blah blah blah, but Aerostars are the baddest ass things in the sky. Unless I go broke, I'll always have it. Fly it often, don't ever take it below 130 KIAS unless you're landing, always shake the pipes before you depart, carry at least one extra spark plug and tools to put it in (that's not an Aerostar thing, that's any piston), and enjoy the smartest aviation purchase you'll ever make. Feel free to call me if you need anything from info to tools if you're in Raleigh, Philly, or Chicago area. 919.924.8259. Jim Christy is good people. Those guys are great over there at Aerostar, but also Alan Speakmaster in CT is just as good. Bob Pinto in NJ is good too, you'll learn a lot if you use him. Lester Kyle is about as good as they come for training, former Marine, damn good man, even better pilot. Talk to Forrest Ward about running LOP if you've got a 601, he's got more experience with it than anyone I know. His forum, free of charge and still the best anywhere, is at: http://aerostar-forum.comI don't bother with pay sites. My experiences have been fantastic with Forrest and his free site, not so much otherwise. Get some GAMIs. If you have them already, dial them in. You're gonna love that bird! Congrats! Oh yeah, and all that bullsh!t about Aerostars are dangerous- fly it properly, safest piston I've ever flown, hella good on one motor. Better be on your game, it won't tolerate fools.
