Even my wife Karen gets nostalgic about "the Cub". A few years ago, AOPA had some aviation theme Christmas cards you could order. One was a Cub landing on a ranch strip with the house on one side and the moon framing the landscape . AOPA no longer offers the card, but she found them on line and ordered some. We have never sent out Christmas cards, but we are this year. "The Dream" is to have our home on the ranch and a strip and hangar for the Cub. Nothing is better than an early morning flight, low and slow, windows open, while watching the sun rise.

Jgreen You don't need that much space to mow a decent strip for the cub, do it!

We have our cub at our ranch right now in an open T-hangar. I have a fuel trailer, so there is no need to go to town. There is nothing better than flying off your own strip whenever the mood hits (and the conditions are right). I can be in the air about 15 minutes after I decide to go flying. I have a few spots on the ranch that I can make off airport landing on if the winds are favorable. Here is photo of my 8 year old nephew and me in the cub. Attachment: Ed and G4.JPG

Username Protected wrote: Good on 'ya JGG! You must read "flight of Passage" about two brothers rebuiding a cub and flying across the country while in their teens. It was written by Rinker Buck and about a year ago it was rumored to be in consideration for a movie. PM me if you want a copy....it would be a pleasure to send it your way. Kevin, So nice of you, but I have a copy and have read it. It was spitting rain, so I couldn't work on the new feed barn today. This after noon, I pulled the Cub out and flew for awhile between showers. Monday, it goes to "the shop". I have no idea what I'm going to spend to get it like I want, but I don't think I care this time. Jgreen

Yep, right in there with you. Bought a Champ last year. I just can't wait to get my grandkids flying. After a career flying a little bit of everything jet powered, it sure is enjoyable to just fly for the shear joy of flying.

I got a little behind on some "maintenance" duties over the last few months but catching up. If I can catch a ride home, I'm going to take the Cub over to the rebuild shop today. If not, maybe I can work on the floor. Jgreen
