In fact, most people are frugal about some things, and spend lavishly on others. Why do you think Uber is wasting money? It depends on the circumstances, I may or may not rent a car depending on what my total Uber cost might be. If I'm going to an event where I may consume alcohol, I Uber. The cost of an Uber is miniscule compared to the cost of making bad decisions. I learned a long time ago that poor people are often poor because they make poor decisions, an example would be can't afford an Uber? Can you afford an attorney? If you didn't mean Uber in general and just meant the premium for Uber black, then you still didn't read what I said, because I was simply making the point that it is two very different experiences. In life you generally get what you pay for.

ButI think a LOT of us use Urber black, feeling the extra cost is well worth it for a more experienced dtiver and a better car. Uber Black also carries commercial insurance and their drivers are licensed livery drivers. For these and other reasons even Uber recommends corporate clients not use standard Uber.

Mike C. You are kidding right? If not that is one of the dumbest things you have said. I would say more, but the left hand shouldn't know what the right hand is doing.

Sorry Chip but I’ve never met a truly wealthy (assets, not income which can go away) person that displays callous attitude toward money. See below. Spending 103 extra dollars for a 20 minute ride in a used Escalade ever a used Prius is stupid. Attachment: IMG_6768.jpeg

Here’s a trip from my office to the Nashville airport.
Uber Black is $25 more. You are in different markets. My data points from Uber around here are closer to what Mark sees - a LOT more for the same service. Uber is different in different places. And at different times sometimes, too.

I am with Chip on this. On trips it is generally uber black or private car. The price is honestly who cares money.
At some point you have to look past where you came from vs. where you are. Does me no good collecting all these dollars to have when I do pass on and not use them. At least that was a bigger deal for me in saving or rather not spending money.

I travel a lot and use uber constantly. I am in in the Mark and Jon camp - black usually is double at a minimum, AND, any time I have used it, the quality of car has been terrible, it’s rarely true ‘black car’ service. I have started using taxis and car services more in the last year with great results. ChatGPT has found me local black car services in a few out of way places that have been awesome. The only uber-esque rides I like at this point are the Waymo ones! No driver and the cars are great. Only a few markets though. I think the cost thing on Uber is not the issue, it’s that you literally get no extra value in many cases. Maybe that’s also why I still don’t have a p300. I am not convinced I get that much more value overall flow a huge increase in price

You guys realize you are spending six figures flying turbine aircraft and then arguing about car rates right? Dimes and Quarters make dollars and thousands. I was raised on that mentality, maybe that’s why I’ve been fairly successful in a business known to bankrupt people. Borrowing too much or wasting money eventually will ruin you. Guaranteed.
