The cost of the pilot's salary and load might not be that significant in comparison. Frankly, it's more fun to fly with someone else in the right seat anyway.
Depends on how good looking she is [/quote] Mark, It was a good decision for me and the TBM, thanks. Might have been different in a lightly loaded Lear at 500. I can't speak for Tony but with copilots you fly with, Tesla Michael notwithstanding, I'd be planeless or dead. While competition is good for the soul I don't want to be "under" my wife's!

The Sierra 501's are damn interesting. While I'm not shopping now, I keep looking at my "next plane" and the idea of skipping turboprop and going straight to a jet is intriguing.
The problem is that I need 1200nm range. Straight 501 doesn't do it (and uses a lot of dead dinosaurs), and even the straight CJ struggles with that range.

Robert This one on Controller is now down to $750k. One hell of a bargain for a jet with FJ44s... http://www.controller.com/listings/airc ... tation-500I posted this link about a month ago and it was $950k.

Jay, You might find some onerous inspections on these babies(100k/3yrs) per my jet guru. Williams are nice. If you learn there's more good than bad I'm all ears. Preference would be a CJ3+. Wife needs to win powerball though.

Unfortunately it's a straight 500, not a 501. From what I understand, the hoops required for a non-jet guy (me) to go through to get a SP waiver would be prohibitive. Also doesn't have the aft baggage mod, but I guess you could always add that. BTW, nicely done video by the broker. Robert

2001 CJ1 asking $795,000 - http://www.jetaviva.com/inventory/14803 ... 1/525-0434
Doesn't say if engines are on TAP. Otherwise it has an expensive OH coming in 450 hours.
Also doesn't have WAAS and will need ADSB in 3 years.
This is a plane for someone to fly for 3 years or 450 hours and then part out. The market value is less then the cost of OH off of TAP and WAAS & ADSB upgrades.

It's nuts that you can grab a used jet for that type of money (same as a used SETP) however the true cost isn't $795K and the cost to run for 3 years but rather what it's going to cost to replace it in 3 yrs after the jet bug has certainly bitten you by then.

Jets are like crack; they get you there faster and more comfortably. Then you need faster and more comfortable. You need to be able to stand up in the cabin to get to the lav. Then you need more ramp appeal. I love to see these dealers selling their crack (at a distance).
