I seem to have struck a cord with you, using your example of name calling and following it up with the comment that is shows a lack of integrity was not a good choice of words, it was not my meaning that YOU lack integrity, I will give you that.

However to make a denigrating comment like "Village idiot" and follow it up with "but we love you" does not change the fact that you called him an idiot, nor does it make up for what can be seen a personal attack. I cannot see how that would change anybodies behavior on an internet forum, if that was your aim.
Similarly deprecating my writing style and understanding of the English language will not make me a better writer, typing it in green also does not make it less insulting.

Mike usually debates the point at hand, at times bluntly. However I have seen it as a reoccurring pattern on CPA and on Beechtalk that when some are not up to the task to counter his arguments that they would interject sarcasm or belittle Mike instead, that ads no value to the discussion at hand and attenuates the value of these forums especially for someone like me who is online more for the learning experience than posting.

Hilgard

Hilgard,

Although I appreciate your comments and your position, as they relate to Mike, I respectfully disagree.

Primarily because of the fact that "This ain't his first rodeo". Meaning that Mike has repeatedly displayed a tendency, here on BT, of doing and being exactly what he's being "called out" for.

viewtopic.php?p=1412611#p1412611

Furthermore, the fact that Mark addressed it here (with much more restraint and tact than was due) was spot on.

In the end Hilgard, I appreciate Mikes apparent knowledge and understanding on much of which he posts on here, but one doesn't need to constantly behave like a Dick, simply because they disagree with other posters on any given subject here.

Man, I may have to quit posting. I come from a family of smart allecks, possible some others here are similarly afflicted. I kinda miss the days of your table tennis slap downs with Ed those were classic BT.

Why aren't you out playing golf on #7. Sunny, light winds & I heard you shot 78 last week.....eh.

It seems to me that we have a small lynching party who wants to dictate the acceptable behavior here. It is not clear who appointed you folks the BT etiquette police and if the scope of your authority is this thread, the Brand X section or the entire forum. I believe we are all equal guests of this establishment and it is up to Jeff & Jeff to determine what acceptable behavior is in their joint.

If you have a problem with Mike C. you can ignore his posts. Engaging with him and then complaining that you didn't like the way he responded to you is childish. Grown ups should be able to deal with a diversity of ideas, opinions, and communication styles.

If Jeff & Jeff have a problem with Mike C's behaviors they can take it up directly with him. And if you have a problem with Mike C's behaviors you can take it to the Jeffs.

I know not of what you speak. :liar:

Leaving the house shortly, 2 oclock tee time and all. :D

And to set the record straight, I've never shot better than a 79 on #7 :bat:

Cheers

Is there any content here in your emotional rant?

Enjoy your golf game and don't kick the ball closer to the hole too often.

Got to say Allen that your argument is completely contradictory. I respect you so much. You have accomplished a lot and are extraordinary articulate. I am disappointed that you, of all people, would make such a fundamentally flawed argument. You are basically asking people to stop doing what you just did. Huh?

Still respect you but damn that is so beneath you.

Maybe you "been out da game" for too long?

To quote a wise old man..."You have a problem with some posters you should take it up with the Jeff's."

Guys, you now blaming the victims of your bullying which I am trying to ask you to halt. Now you jump on me, yeah right.

You want to call out bad behavior, WELL I AM CALLING YOU OUT.

A few of you are reaching new lows in trying to justify what you started.

You want to go at it verbally, bring it on. Or stand down and let's all go in peace. It has been your choice but you persist in revving things up.

Allen:

I am trying to call out a guy who is known for bullying in a very soft way and your response is to bully me?

Seriously?

You want me to BRING IT? Are you drunk?

To quote a wise old man " is there any content to your rant?"

This is not your fight. Direct any further diatribe to the Jeff's.
Happy to stake my rep and my point against you any time.

Why don't you follow your own advice? Which seemed to be the suggestions I posted earlier that have got you all riled up.

I don't get why you are itching for whatever public fight it is. And then you proceed to pull me in and want to spar with me. Give it a rest.

I pulled you in? Seriously? What I held a gun to your head and said "pontificate"? You elected to jump in. Read some of the work of people like Bryon Katie. There is no good or bad. There just is. How you perceive it is all in your mind. That you elected to involve yourself is on you :bud:

I call you out for not heeding your own advice. Maybe it's good advice I will grant you that. Why don't you follow it? Hard to respect that.

Come on, gents. Is this really the face you want to present to occasional visitors like me?

I dropped in to give a few facts on the Eclipse where it looked like they might be useful. Instead, I'm thinking I somehow got teleported into a high school gym locker room .
