Im sure I'll be yelling the next time it happens to me. I might even scream.

I grew up in the San Fernando Valley. Circa 1955 (?) A mid air over this Pacoima elementary school between an F-89 (?) and a DC-7 Sent the DC7 diving into the playground of an elementary school. A friend of mine was there and saw it all.
One of the pilots heads and arm was outside the cockpit window and he seemed to be trying to wave kids away. Others saw it to no avail.
17 died and 70 some odd injured.
Wonder what his name was? Can you imagine? Knowing your toast. a Hero.

It's not the pilot who is going to pay big bucks for this accident. It is Continental, Hartzell plus the rest of us in the form of higher cost of engines and props as a result of all the lawsuits that will be filed. :shrug:

Of course I am kidding.

This was an unfortunate accident. Very sad. No money or jail can repair things. I hope never happens to me. Sending the pilot to jail to serve time with real criminals and rapists as cellmates is not a solution.

Many what ifs.. only the pilot knows what really happened.

PS. If I am correct, manslaughter is killing someone on purpose. I am not a native English speaker. I am assuming that means jail time for the pilot.

Hey Tom L. and the boys,
I'm just trying to keep it light around here...sometimes pilot defense mechanisms kick in on accident analysis...especially if it is easy to put yourself in the accident pilot's shoes...the fearful mind looks for some fault that could be avoided to convince oneself that the accident in question never could happen to moi because ___________________....hence the accident pilot was an incompetent moron flying a plane of suspect _______________________maintained by a mechanic whose skills are_________________________. Fact is, bad stuff happens and always will...and every time Jason kids around saying, "I'm never flying again!" a little part of each of us says, "Me neither" and means it.
