I am torn between two aircraft with more or less the same mission. the turbo Saratoga or a turbo 206

haul a lot , pretty simple to fix and maintain and a real Surburban of the air.

For that mission, depending on how big the three people are, the Mooney Acclaim would be somewhat faster. My FIKI plane has just under 900# of UL, climbs to the high teens at 12-1500 FPM (310 HP STC), and is very comfortable for us.

It would not be enough faster for me to switch from one to the other.
That distance is probably pushing 4 hours on average, which is a lot to inflict on non-pilot passengers.

A Vitatoe P210 or Malibu would not be faster, but either would be a significant increase in comfort.

Au contraire I do not believe the Mooney Acclaim is any faster (or at very most 2 - 3 knots) than the TTx

The turbo 206 is an excellent all around airplane. I would probably put it in position two to the TTx because of its hauling capabilities. Not very fast though.

One BIG advantage the 182 has over a Bonanza is...

All the extra CRAP you can put in the hangar under the wings.

Shoot, a car under each wing.

Piper Tripacer has higher wings. Just sayin...

I love both those airplanes. Both will haul a large volume. Both will haul a heavy load. And they both are fastish.

The width of the PA32 cabin makes it very comfortable. I have a few hundred hours in a Cherokee Six. Great airplanes.

they may look the same on paper, but if you can get a 206 for the same money as a PA32, write the check quick before they change their mind

If we are not limiting ourselves to current models, I was always partial toward T210's.

Edit to add: I got to fly some P210R service testing. I thought performance was not up to book on a hot day. Asked around to those that designed and certified it and never really got an answer.

TTX went a little overkill with utility certification, or you'd be able to haul even more.

It is widely reported that the Utility Category certification was Lance‘s biggest regret. If the company could have beat Cirrus on payload and loading flexibility would things have changed? Who knows? Being a better airplane, faster, safer, and nicer flying weren‘t enough to beat the parachute. It is doubtful beating it in payload would have made the difference either.

I have owned both a NA 210 and a Columbia 350 (also NA). The 210 wins for load carrying, space, sight seeing, and short/rough field operation. The Columbia wins every where else. It‘s more comfortable, way faster, and is more fun to fly.

They tweaked the Acclaim to create the Acclaim S and claim a 242 knot top speed. Stunning for a piston single, although fighting over a few knots at these speeds doesn't make a whole lot of difference outside the marketing department.

I will admit the T210 is an EXCELLENT airplane. Lots of room if you take out the rear seats as most do and very good runway capabilities. Its control feel is a bit truck like though... and it aint the prettiest bird in the sky by a long shot.

I dunno, while I’ve never been in the high wing camp myself, I have always thought that the later model 210s were nice looking planes. Same for cardinals. I think not having the wing struts really helps the appearance.

Visibility for pilotage and basic sight seeing is excellent in high wing aircraft. Since that is mostly what I flew when I was active (C-150, C-152, C-172, etc.), it was a normal habit to duck and not get whacked by the trailing edge of the wing.

I like it, but that is more accurately called a 0.25 engine aircraft

Faster than most anything discussed (except maybe the p51)
and longer range!
