I'll contribute to the thread drift:
I'd sell it and buy a new Suburban. It does everything and has the huge door. Get the warranty/servicing and keep flying it like you stole it!
In the mean time, keep chipping away at the guy with the jet in your hangar to use it on the occasional long legs.
Friends of mine just did the exact same thing. Wanted a jet, but the burban does everything so well. They take it to the slopes often during the winter. 90% of time it's used for the exact 250 nm leg.
I assume EPPS has been all over you about trading it in on a new one!

I assume EPPS has been all over you about trading it in on a new one! I agree. If I could lease that CJ3 for my Colorado trips I'd be golden. The CJ3 owner uses it for 250NM flights and even then it sits in the hangar 99% of the time. I feel bad for it. I told him he could have my Pilatus when I have the CJ3 so he'd never be without an airplane. He wouldn't budge.

I want to do the training. I want to add the Type Rating. I just don't want to only fly a CJ3.

Maybe snoop around the other airports in ATL or 25 min flight away. Has to be a guy looking to cut some expenses. Also- Try hitting the sales reps up with your inquire about a dry lease.. These guys usually a lot of the owners. Something is bound to fall in your lap..

Insurance will allow me to skip Pilatus recurrent if I get Typed in something else. So it's a win win.

Let me try this... Username Protected wrote: Have you flown when you really didn't want to fly/feel like flying or even not feel 100% ? Yes. Sometimes you need to get somewhere, whether you feel like it or not.
Have you flown someplace you didn't want to go? Often. My wife makes you me fly her to see the in-laws.
Have you flown in weather you didn't want to fly in? All the time. I'd prefer it was CAVU, but that's not always the case.
Have you flown equipment you really don't like (poorly equipped, quirky features, intermittent un-diagnosed failures? Sure. I've flown more crappy rentals/club planes than I can count.
If the answer to all these is no, you have not experienced the professional side of aviation.
The professional HAS to fly. The amateur can call the whole thing off if he/she feels like it.
Getting paid alone doesn't get you over the line. Sounds like I am a pro pilot, all the way.

Yes. Have you flown equipment you really don't like (poorly equipped, quirky features, intermittent un-diagnosed failures? Yes I've flown crappy rental planes. I had to learn the 172 to get my Commercial Rating this year. Never flew one before then and it was awful. The day of my check ride the headset jacks became unscrewed and fell behind the panel. I almost had to cancel because ti was a Saturday and the mechanic was gone but I found a screwdriver and fixed it myself. Have you flown in weather you didn't want to fly in? Yes, last week to Asheville, NC. Approach to minimums both ways. Have you flown someplace you didn't want to go? Sometimes I have to fly to Cincincatti on business..... I hate it. Wouldn't any pilot answer the same?
