Grass strip with that runway and range requirement pretty much narrows down the field. There isn't a single plane of the others mentioned that have the same big tire/wheel size. I mean, who here would bring a Conquest, Merlin, Epic or CJ to a grass strip? Be the last thing you do if it has a little rut. Commander - no problem, they love that stuff. Just like in Detroit where you can't beat cubic inches, there's no substitute for big....tires. The Epic is a fantastic grass performer.

If FIKI is required, I don't think any experimental will work

Erwin lands his bird practically in the dirt....... I'm a commander fan......... The positive piece is that if we can all post actual data on our airplanes then folks will be able to make the decisions for themselves.......... Frankly there is not a bad airplane in this land, couple of bad pilots maybe

By your logic an F18 will beat a Pilatus too. But don't worry about all the other stuff. Since you jumped in to defend Thomas, why don't you post up some numbers of a mini jet doing that flight faster since Thomas refused to do so.

Let it go Jason. I responded to a simple statement you made that was erroneous as posted. It mat not be what you meant. If you meant to include all variables, I mis-read your comment.

[quote="Michael Tarver"]What airplane can do 1500 miles west non stop? Plane will live on a 3500 foot grass strip and land at a 2800 foot paved runway. 2 people mostly. 50 foot hangar, 14ft max tail height.
i would get some extra fuel modification for the lancair evolution with a modest 30-40 gallons extra which will give you easy 1600 miles 4 people, fits in normal hangar, 28 gallons/hr 280 knots true a/s 28,000 feet. De ice boots goodrich not fiki but almost all for a bit more than an used kingair and half the fuel consumption

What's the resell on the Evolution, these seem to sit on the market a long time; similar to the Epics and IV-P turbines.

Garrett powered E90, if it will fit your hangar.

the G900/PT6-135 ones sit for a long time, everyone wants the G3X/-42 variants, and some of these are strategically listed to prop up prices for the market, they're not really for sale if you do the homework

Yes I get the feeling the G900 and -135 are garbage it's all about the G3X touch and -42; huge improvements. I think a million bucks is a fair price for one of these. I'm looking.
