I think these guys might make the door seal, do you know if there's an accumulator or if the pump runs continuously? there's a pump in the top of the door, you should have a housing cover it, it hits a pressure switch and turns off, if the pressure drops it runs again they seem to fail around 500hrs, i've already replaced mine recently....i'm looking for another to place on the shelf

Mine seems to run continuously to keep the door seal inflated, I'll dig into this issue but there's obviously a leak in a tube as the actual door seal seems new.

Lol I would run too. Username Protected wrote: I have lots of abbreviations on the back of my pilot certificate. When a friend offered me unlimited use of his Lancair IV and said, "don't worry about insurance, just take out a 250k life insurance policy payable to me," I knew that airplane wasn't for me.

Took my Dad up in the Lancair today and I think he really liked it. He enjoyed the Bonanza cruise speeds in the climb. I shot a couple of LPV practice approaches, 140kts in the hold/final and it's on rails. Throw the speed brakes out at GS intercept and extend the gear. The GPSS is some great stuff and paid the entire procedure a hands off affair! Also one of the easiest airplanes I've ever landed; almost impossible to not land smoothly. I am singing a different tune after today's flight and feel the IV is a very stable IFR platform. I've never flown behind a TSIO-550 but it's one of the smoothest piston motors I've flown. I wish the P Baron had 2 of these.
I'm in love. I've been searching for years up and down the food chain but I think I might have found my "keeper" airplane.

Seems to have a very wide CG range that cannot be out of range with normal limitations. It's not like a short bodied Bonanza. I haven't calculated an out of CG situation for the weights/people/bags I fly. I'm impressed.

The guy I bought my ES from (builder) bought a IVp, later he admitted the loading options with fuel in mind were limiting and that the cg quickly went aft- where the scariest stall behavior exists, I want asking about out of CG- I was asking you at what loading config with your usual crew (significant other? Dog? Child?) goes aft....aft cg is where most of the fatal IV-P accidents start

I don't plan on flying my IV with more than 2 people so I don't think this will be a possibility. But the CG calculations I've done indicate you could theoretically place full fuel, 2 170lb pilots and 2 105 wives with 50lbs of bags and still be legal and within the CG range.

Here's a sample. Worst case. 600nm range, 1 hr reserve.
