After looking hard for a couple months I found this RV7A, Garmin G3X touch, IO360 200 HP and made offer sight unseen. I now have about 40 hours in her and fly 3 times a week just for fun. TAS is 165 kts if you choose to burn an exorbitant amount of fuel (10 GPH) I really like BT and can't believe I found an RV thread. Congrats Ed! That looks like a beauty! I love the RVs. Alas, I'm a one-airplane-at-a-time pilot..

I would be much better off if I was as wise as Arlen. Because of the substantially less cost of most things to do with RVs, I have both an A-36 and RV-8. However, I too, rarely carry more than one passenger in the A-36 but there are just times when you need the room like there are just times when it feels good to be upside down

My A36 was like having a pickup. Filled up the back but never with passengers. John[/quote]

Nice airplane Ed! I've had my RV6A for sixteen years now and just can't ever imagine parting with it. I've often considered a larger airplane but I'd probably never use the seats in it. Just doesn't make sense at this point in my life. Have a blast with your new toy! Dave

Dave Hi Dave, I bought my airplane from a guy in Santa Maria, CA. This was his third build and he had it down. His son had owned Epic Aircraft and now works for the new owners. Very nice guy. Ed

Sold our 8 and now have a 7. The 7 is faster but I love them both!

and with so much legroom, a mooney covets Any of the 200kt experimentals actually comfortable to fly for XC? I really dislike center columns or pedestals. That photo gives me the jimmy legs. I could deal with one-up or tandem seating. No lancair 4Ps, their proponents annoy me.

It is side-by-side with more panel space. It is not a Van's authorized mod, but several have been built. I am 6'1" and if I take my shoes off and put my feet behind the rudder pedals on the firewall I can stretch my legs out straight in my Rocket. It is plenty comfortable for 3 hour legs. If I go to 17,000 I can do 4 hour legs and after 4 hours I am ready for a stretch, but I don't like sitting in my Baron for 4 hours either.... Here's the real deal, I prefer 3 - 4 hours in either the Baron or the Rocket to 2 hours in row 29B and 2 hours in the terminal....

I just arrived back in Los Angeles last night after a ride on the Emirates Cape Town -> LA bonecrusher express. 25 hours in the air, with only a 2 hour layover after hour 9 in Dubai. You are preaching to the converted! Feeling STILL hasn't returned to my ass fully.
That said, I'm very uneducated on what's out there in Experimental land, and it's hard to tell the "paper airplanes" from things people are actually flying. A 260hp-ish RV6/7 seems perfect to me, frankly.
I have no problem doing 14-16 hour days in Bonanzas, and frequently will. But I gotta be able to move my legs around.
Seat 83A on the A380? Yeah, probably never again.
