Initially priced at $1.39 million rising to $1.72 million in 2009 dollars depending upon when a deposit/order is placed.

http://www.aero-news.net/

Assuming these prices stick, has Cirrus brought the airplane to market cheaply enough to compete with the more capable Cessna Mustang?

Your thoughts?

I think the price is right. I just don't think they'll be able to deliver and there's no way on Earth I'd put money down on one at this point, especially after the drama of Alan leaving the company. This is no time to be an "early adopter."

If its like the rest of the Cirrus fleet. I will just wait and buy one a couple of years after they have been completed for 40% of the original price.

I would stick with the old adage: Never buy the first year model of ANYTHING. There will always be bugs to work out. Some serious, some minor.

You might as well open your window and throw your money out, that way you at least have some little fun seeing your money float away.

You must be insane to put a deposit down on that Cirrus jet. It's never gonna be there. They will use that money to pay the Cirrus factory, not the development of the Jet.

That price is set to let people jump in, not to make a delivery.

I am going to put that down as a vote in the NO column.

If it works and they deliver on this price it is going to make purchases such as new Barons look like bad business...

Compare range, point to point speed including fuel stops, and payload. Too bad HBC doesn't make the 58P any more.

If they can get to market with the SE jet, I'll buy one. I'd take it over a Baron too.

The only real potential customer on this board registers a YES vote.

I guess we will have to see if the price sticks.

Would you take one over the PC-12?

I don’t think it necessarily would be impossible to sell the SE jet even if the price increased somewhat. Lots of pilots want one engine due to cost of operation, fuel flow (increased range & useful load). Just look at the TBM 850 and the PC12.

Hell no. But a PC12 is a lot more money so it's not a fair comparison.

$1.3 million for a Cirrus Jet that'll do 300TAS vs. $1.2 for Baron. I'll take the Cirrus Jet.

But, we'll see if they get to market. There's a lot between here and there.

I say there's a huge market for a SE jet.

Why would a Cirrus Jet cost so much less to buy than a TBM?
