I once saw an icon takeoff and it had a slower climbout than the 1970 160hp cessna 172 i learned with my 300lbs instructor and my 170lbs self. Looked like it was struggling to do a 400ft per minute climb. Id agree. The 44 is way cooler.

Widgeon is a really usable machine. 145kts, fill 6 seats, 108 gallons. I moved up from the Searey because taking friends to dinner is more fun than taking 1 person. I got the fuel tanks resealed recently so no more leaks. We have 3 Widgeons at my airstrip now and we are having a blast with them.

Alex I have no idea but it did fine at 14,500 coming over the mountains coming back from Alaska. It’s probably similar to a B55 Baron. I think the published service ceiling for the 200hp Rangers with fixed pitch props was 14,600. Probably would go to 20,000 with the 260 io-470s . Nice wing.

I always flew with my cat. He hung out like a shawl on my neck. He claws at leather so no %#$@# cats in the Widgeon anymore. He is gettin older so no more swimming together either.

Who resealed your tanks? One of the tanks on my 182 is leaking and needs to be resealed asap
