I'd assume that staying with the basic Honeywell structure you can reuse a lot of sensors and wiring and leave the autopilot installation intact… those Honeywell systems always worked very well in the 560 series Citations..you hear few people complain… plus that Honeywell upgrade system Aerovue, much like their offering for the King Air, quite probably a lot less expensive than a full Garmin 5000 suite..probably 800K - 1.0 Mi difference in price..if somebody already puts an engine upgrade on such a plane, where those new motors probably cost twice as much or more than the airplane is worth on the used market, there is no room for another 1.0 Mio USD + for new avionics..just does not compute..... makes a lot of sense in my view...

So the V and the Ultra have the same fuel capacity and both have a 350 lbs more than the Encore? I guess the first two would have a bit more range than the third then.

That's correct. I believe they had to make room for the trailing link landing gear in the Encore but it ended up having a little more range because of the efficiency of the engines. This upgrade should give the Ultra close to a 2000NM range. Impressive!

I think that the sweet spot right now is a competitor to the cj3/4 and Phenom 300 that comes in at PC12 prices.......and that does 450knts........textron is touting the 400xpr XPR :2 pilot plane. Looked hard at it. Wonderful little jet. But sometimes, like Jason has pointed out, 2 pilots is a PITA. Personally I like the idea of two pilots for most business stuff. But then what about little flights? Personal flights?

Textron would sell the hell out of them. As a 2 pilot plane why do they even bother? The Charter Guys are using Phenom 300's. They're not going to switch to an old Frankenplane.

Getting the 400 series stc'd by textron as single pilot would never happen, as it would compete with an already profitable segment. Maybe a third party could approach the process with some success?

I see those older Citations plus new engines and new avionics (read $$$) as a hard sell when compared to the factory CJ lineup with it's depraciation rate. It seems to me that the price points will get to close to convince buyers to buy the redone aircraft.

Maybe a third party could approach the process with some success? No doubt..... But who are they bothering to build it for then? Also, they have the XLS which seems like a direct competitor in the 2 pilot market so what difference does it make?
