I would disagree that the aircraft would need to go head to head with the PC12. For many folks the PC is far bigger than they need or want, something between the TBM 850. and the PC12 would likely be right on target. A Citation Mustang with a turbo prop on the front may just hit that sweet spot, smaller that the Pilatus, larger than the Socata with a stronger service network than either.

I don't understand why they keep insisting on Collins ProLine upgrades for King Air's. Just go Garmin and be done with it. Who wants' to pay $100K for an ASD-B update or $25K/year for chart subscription? Are these customers masochists?
Also, I would suggest Kestrel are on the right track with Garrett power. Why pay twice as much for a PT6 in overhaul and 20% more in fuel per hour? Yeah, it's proven, but still not as proven as the Garrett, or it would have the same TBO as that.
Aviation is expensive enough as it is. If they go down the same old route, Collins, PT6, no edge, no advantage, they'll be dead. Gotta change the game.

Maybe, but....... We already have TBM, Epic coming, Kestrel (never gonna happen) and the Meridian. What can they do better? PC-12 has NO competition and commands a premium...... gonna stick to my guns!!!! if it does not compete with the PC-12 it be DOA

I didn't know it was that. I can only guess but the equipment has to be paid for somehow? Is the hardware under priced?

I'm not sure it is, but in the link they just announced the new Textron King Air 250 with ProLine. I'm assuming they'll go down that route for a SETP as well.

You think Kestrel will make it? Why did Pilatus choose the PT6 over a Garrett? Those are some pretty good engineers? Not against the Garrett's, I like em. Just wondering why they are not more common.

Just talked to Kestrell and they are talking about switching to the PT6.
