Reading the AOPA article about the Seneca V and it's Garmin panel. But talking about the G1000, apparantly now in the Seneca you can build holds wherever you might want to.

Does anybody know if these sort of things get into updates for the G1000s already in use?

This is coming up in Garmin's GDU Software 13.0 . When that becomes available for any particular airframe depends on the OEM airframe vendor. Garmin will be making this revised software available to OEMs very soon.

I hope it does. It seems almost a year ago that my Cirrus friend was telling me that for a Go Around, the autopilot does not disconnect anymore, since he got a software upgrade. Rather sweet I think. I am wondering that it might come down to what a manufacturer whats the customers to get? I don't know how this all works though, anybody? Anyone? Bueller?

I talked to a Garmin rep at OSH last year and the way it was described to me is that each OEM has to certify the software in its own planes, so the features in each G1000 can be and often are different from one plane to the next, As a G36 owner, I'd like to see Beech keep things up to date, but I have little hope they'll do much over the next year other than talk, talk, talk.

I always attend the Aircraft Electronics Association annual conference and tradeshow. It was *finally* back in Las Vegas this year. It's nearly impossible not to have fun in Vegas.
