Dont even want to know how much they cost if you break one. The heated glass pilot side windshield on the 414 is rumored to be a $25,000 touch. I was glad that mine recently had been replaced.

Larry The one he bought or 100k, low times engines, cargo door, q tip props, cargo quick fittings in the floor. Sweet deal. Okay avionics. On my 310 I never have to worry about family and wife flying because I can never get them to fly with me. Remy Username Protected wrote: I have a Navajo 310. Love it. Burn 16 a side at 75% about 175 knots cruise. I am 6feet 3 and plenty of room up front. A 1000 miles range? Like Larry said, that is pushing it. I'd agree with others, get another insurance company. With the economy the way it is, I have seen several Navajo owners downgrade to smaller planes, after all it costs about $1300 just to fill it up! You can't give them away right now. A guy 2 hangars down from me just bought a Panther Navajo for $100k!

Remy, A Navajo panther at $100k is a killer deal, even with high time engines. A great plane. Miss m Navajo, but it was a party plane and the Baron is much better for my mission. Same speed, much less fuel and maintenance..... However, can't fit my wife and girlfriend in the Baron ....

My 421C has a plexi heated windshield (not glass). I had to replace when I purchased it, and all in it was around $20k, but paid for by a discount in the sale price.
I don't believe that any 421s have actual glass windshields, but I'm not positive about that.
Back to the topic at hand: if you really don't want pressurization, I'd take a serious look at the Navajo. Otherwise, go ahead and get pressurization and get a 421. The experience gained flying in the flight levels will make any future turbine transition easier.
However, I also agree with the other posters that you're likely insurance in a turbine twin with some mentor time. Cheaper to hire a co-pilot for a year (if that much time is even required) than to deal with an "interim" airplane.
