After sitting in a Mooney, an Arrow feels like a 1/2 ton Chevy pickup. They better be more comfortable, because you are going to sit in it longer to go anywhere.

I keep reading how a Bonanza is no wider than a Mooney but it sure feels like it is.

My experience on a trip last week seems typical to me. When I arrived at Fort Collins, CO last Wednesday, I was sharing the pattern with a King Air and a V35B. I heard several Bonanzas talking to ATC during the trip and I cannot remember hearing a single Arrow. I suppose someone conversant with FlightAware could generate some actual statistics to support or refute my anecdotal observation.

Hi Bob,

Having owned a '78 Piper Arrow III I'm in complete agreement.

Bonanzas are superior traveling aircraft. They have more room and a lot more speed.

We could count on 137 KTAS with the Arrow. Most Bonanzas will beat that by 30 knots or more.

There is no doubt our family travels increased significantly after we bought our A36. It makes many more trips doable and enjoyable.

I think the Bonanza is also the same width as a PA-28, but it feels roomier to me. Maybe it's how the sidewall/window trim hits me or how the seats are built, but I suspect it's just the overall seating position, leg room and cabin height. I used to sit kindof side-saddle when solo in the PA28s. I'm never tempted to do that in the Bonanza.
